Hello Abram

Genesis 12:1-9

We're starting a 4-week radio series today on Back to the Bible about Abram or Abraham (Dr. Kroll and I would love to have you join us for day one and the rest of the series.) As we get to know Abram in Genesis 12, we see him listening and responding to the call and direction from God to leave his country and his family and go to a new land. Not necessarily an easy or fun assignment, but Abram obeyed. What a great example for us.

So what did you learn from Abram that you can put into practice when you hear God calling you? Tami W.

What a great example of obedience Abram is in this passage. One thing that I take from this passage is that most of the times when God calls us or asks us to do something it is not primarily for our benefit, but for the benefit of others. Yes, God did promise to bless Abram, but the bigger and more important promise was that God was going to bless the nations through Abram. Those kinds of promises are the ones we know are from the Lord and the ones we should obey quickly and completely.

Obedience has its rewards. I think the nations that accepted Abram found that out. To personalize it, if I obey, then God will bless those around me that accept my obedience (if I can phrase it like that.)

Hey everyone,

Thanks for your comments. We love hearing your thoughts on the daily readings.

To kick off the new year, we've been posting some of the amazing benefits of getting into God's Word on our Facebook page. We'd love for you to check them out and let us know how you've experienced those benefits in your OWN life! See you there.

I was reminded by this passage that God will LEAD. I just need to follow His command.

I often find myself worrying about how I will be successful in my duties at work or at home. It's as if I feel burdened that I need to figure everything out on my own. This passage reminded me that God will LEAD ME if I allow Him to - I don't have to face life's challenges alone.

yes' what an example of obedience ! I know that I do not have any where near that level of obedience to God/Jesus. I have issues of following his commands. I also try to do things on my own and do not ask for his help. I pray that one day I could be as obedient as Abram was. Praise God !
