Genesis 22:1-19
Abraham is given this unfathomable test from God to sacrifice his only son. The son whom he and Sarah had asked God for for so many years. The son that was truly a miracle baby. So how did he respond? Perfectly--with complete trust, complete faith and complete obedience. We would do well to follow in Abraham's example from Genesis 22:1-19.
What did you learn from Abraham's actions and responses? What are some things you could put into practice going forward? Tami W.

This is an unfathomable test for Abraham. He has come a long way in his trust of God. Earlier, he didn't trust God to protect his marriage with Sarah, lying about who she was to protect his own life. Now, he is willing to take the life of his only son, the one he waited 25 years to have! My view of this is that Abraham simply (probably not the best word) trusted in the word of God. It is pretty clear that Abraham knew he was coming down off that mountain with Isaac. Whatever was going to happen on top of the mountain was up to God. I would do well to just follow Abraham's example and simply trust God and His word.
I learned That to be a nation builder you must be prepared to give up everything. That is what our present day leaders are lacking. That is why we are being or have been sold out by our political leaders . Thay are not prepared to die or see their own suffer for the well being of their nation. These passages of scripture seem absolute considering that God Almighty is trying to build many nations. All leaders should be as Abraham is , without a dought and proven. The people putting them in office today are without knowledge of scripture and Christians are amongst the worst in supporting these animals we have in office today. Going Forward I would try to inform others . I would try and recognize the times we are in . Jesus is coming and as in the days of Noah , so dont miss the boat. When it is time to look up, be looking up , be ready, be afraid.
My High School Football Coach once told my dad that my brother and I were totally different. He said that if he told my brother to go and ram his head in the wall, that my brother would go and do it. But if he told me to go ram my head in the wall, that I would ask, Why? Abraham just went and did it with no questions, just like my brother. I need to be obedient. The other thing that was a blessing was that it is evident that Abraham knew it was God. He recognized God's voice. You have to have a really good relationship to decipher that. So much meat in the portion of scripture. The fact that Abraham told the 2 servants that "WE" will be back showed that he knew either God was going to save Isaac, or bring Isaac back to life...whatever the case may have been, Isaac was going to come back alive. So, I need to listen, recognize, respond respectively, and with humility, and obey.
Abraham trusted God because up when God told him to take his son Isaac to be a sacrifice to Him, he had no reason not to trust God. God had told Abraham that from his seed, Isaac ref. Genesis 17:19 (KJV) "And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him". So when Isaac asked his father where is the lamb and Abraham ansered that God will provide, he (Abraham) knew that God would indeed provide because God has never let him down or forsaken him before and He would not then. He knew that if his God was going to make a covenant with Isaac's seed, then Isaac has to live. Abraham's faith was so great that he knew that one way or the other God needs Isaac alive so he just let go and let God, something I should do more often.
May God continue to strengthen us that we may grow in humility and faith that we let go and let Him work for us.
This passage cements the fact that every meaninful relationship requires trust. Abraham trusted God. He knew that even though this request seemed impossible that he could trust God and would do whatever He said to do.
Trust is not something that comes easily for many of us. I tend to see things from a "cup half empty" perspective and it can muddy many good things in my life. If I look at God through this distorted lens, I won't trust Him fully and, thus, I won't know Him fully.
Trust is a byproduct of knowing someone and knowing someone requires time, day by day. My prayer is to make truly knowing my Lord and Savior a priority and with this will come genuine TRUST whatever life may throw my way and whatever God may require of me.
the Lord tells us that we must tried him and proved his word, Abraham did not had a clue of what the outcome would be, but like what he did when God called him from his kindred he went without knowing what will befall him or how it will work out, but thing is he went. what i am saying is either you trust the Lord to make a way or you dont it is as simple as that.this is my point on trusting the Lord
