Genesis 15:1-21
God comes to Abram in Genesis 15 and promises him that Abram will have a son to be his heir and that Abram's offspring will be as numerous as the stars. Now that's quite an amazing promise considering Abram's circumstances. But that doesn't make one bit of difference to Abram. Verse 6 says "And he believed the Lord, and he counted it to him as righteousness." I love this verse because it is such a picture of complete trust and faith.
So here are a couple of questions for us to consider: Do we, like Abram, believe what the Lord tells and promises us? Why or why not? And if not, what do we need to do to get there? Tami W.

A thought that helps me to decide to believe what God says even when things look bleak is to ask the question, "If I'm not going to believe God and His word, then what or who am I believing?" My own personal track record of being right all the time isn't very good. I don't have any friends who are omniscient (though my wife is close!) and who have never been wrong. My government has sure made a lot of mistakes....Hmmm..when I think of it from that perspective, God is the only 100% trustworthy and correct source of information that I have. Therefore, I had better trust Him.
I do believe because he has proven himself to me time and time again. The times where I struggle with my doubt is when I am not speaking and listening to the Lord. My confidence and feeling of security becomes shaken when I am walking and operating in my human abilities alone. What I am working on in my relationship with the Lord is consistency in worshipping and communing with the Lord.
I know I don't believe or trust God as much as Abram did,but I am learning more everyday how to trust and believe in Gods promises. He has been there for me and my family in hard times and in good times.I feel that if someone doesn't believe in God then we as Christians need to reach out to them and bring them to God.
I also want my focus to be on worshiping The risen Savior who was crucified and put to death for my sin! I can do nothing without HIM. But through HIM I can do all things. God is always faithful. His promises have been protecting me so far and I am thnful and grateful for my life. There is no one who is worthy but The Lamb that was slain. I don't want to be a martyr but I do want to be ready so HIS Word is important to hide in my mind, heart and on my lips.
Abram "first" believes and trusts God. The God reveils to him the promises and some troubles that will come. We (I) am "first" to trust and believe "God is in control at all times", then God reveals His will in His time. Oh, What a grat God!
The scriptures is where the Lord does His talking to us . Outside the scriptures also in dreams and visions. Other ways also through prayer and knowledge . Probably even ways unknown. Then the enemy comes and tries to confuse and bring doubt and burdens. We need to aline what we are percieving with scripture then waite. If Abram was seen righteous then so will we be seen.
