Proverbs 18:22; 31:10-12

As a woman, I love our verses in Proverbs today because wives are definitely spoken of and depicted in a favorable manner. But as Proverbs 31:10 points out, being an excellent wife...is a tall order. "An excellent wife who can find? She is far more precious than jewels."

So ladies, let's hear from you about how we can work on becoming an excellent wife. And men, tell us some of the things about your spouse (or your observations about your mom as a wife) that make or made her an excellent wife. Tami W.

Oh how merciful is The Lord to me. My husband must have faith as he is still with me for 43 years! I long to be humble and obedient as Mary the mother of our Lord Jesus. Mary has a chaste character. She has a loving Heart for Jesus and for God , Mary’s Magnificat is an expression of her humility. She showed humility in welcoming Magi seeking the star. Mary, personifies wisdom in her gentle charms. Wisdom is in her mothers lofty love, in knowledge, in fear, and holy hope. She’s the woman of the people. Jesus himself said:
"Blessed rather are they that hear the word of God and keep it". She’s our example of keeping the Word of God which invites us to seek IN Mary that which had so endeared her to God and caused her to be selected as the Mother of Jesus. I was chosen to be spouse to my husband. If I follow her example then my marriage, my relationship with my husband will be as beautiful and blessed as Marys.

My wife is amazing! She does an amazing job with the children, who can be very difficult at times. She has been patient with me as I've matured and grown in my own life and in my understanding of God's plan for our family. Her price is far, far, far above rubies!

To be an excellent wife, forgive, forgive, and forgive again, when your husband falls short of perfection. And remember that he is forgiving you in the same way, if he is also walking with the Lord. In 27 years of marriage, this has carried us forward and brought us closer together. Do not allow a root of bitterness to grow.

The best way to show unfailing love is being unselfish. What sticks out most is the proverbs 31 woman is everything she did was considering helping her family be better not for herself but in doing that she did help herself. Her humility shined. Sometimes I look at that and say "how will I ever become so perfect?" But it was not that she was perfect it was that she gave her best and God was first.

I'm single never married, but I admire my mom in this regard. She was faithful and dedicated to her husbands. She has been married and widowed twice. She has been a great example to me of faithfulness in marriage.

Thanks, Tami for the reminder!
My Wife us such a gift! Liz keeps us all in order, and with 4 children age 4 and under, that's no small task!

Her birthday is tomorrow and I'm trying to let her choose what would be most restful/loving for her. Yeah, I still won't ever deserve her as my Wife, but such is the love of God - undeserved but sweeter than we can imagine.

My Mom is also an excellent Wife to my Dad! Together thet raise me and my 2 brothers and taught us the truth in the Bible, took me back all through my prodigal years and still help and pray for my family and I. Family is such a blessing!

Thanks for your part in helping us stay in God's precious Word!
