Psalm 86:1-17
I love the Psalms written by David. You never have to wonder what's on his heart because he tells it like it is. His relationship and communications with the Lord are open, honest and real.
So what can we do to capture the attitude and approach of David? How can we use and draw upon this Psalm to help us with whatever our circumstances are today? Tami W.

Two times in this Psalm David says that he will "call upon the Lord'. That's the key in my view to a life filled with the presence of the Lord. The prophet Jeremiah wrote, "Call unto me (God) and I will show you great and might things which you do not know." Despite the mistakes that David made, and they were many, he was never afraid or ashamed to call on the Lord for what he needed. Like a true Father, God answered David's call. I think the question is are we calling on the Lord or are we just trying to handle things on our own, in our own wisdom and strength?
sometimes in life, we go through things that are so painful, we cannot do anything except cry out to God. since we serve the one and only living God, we can be assured that He hears us...and loves us. we do not serve on of the many false deities, made of stone, wood,...etc. Our God is alive and well and remains on His throne. He is in charge of something as vast as our universe and as individual as our seperate lives. david really understood this. no situation, faced by any of us, is too big or too complex for Him to handle in our behalf.
One of the things that continuously amazes me that David does in his Psalms and al the other Psalm-writers is the fact that they are all very honest with God. Their feeling and emotions are described in detail. Their hearts are completely poured out to God with the knowledge that He is the only one who can take their burdens. I see in every Psalm a complete dependence and trust. I believe that many times God holds back on many things because we are not being sincere and honest with Him. He's like that friend that sees in our faces worry, fear and need but when they ask us if anything is wrong we say "Nothing." That friend is then unable to help us because we don't confess our need for help. The interesting thing is that God still stands next to us until we decide to finally allow him to help. God already know everything that is happening to us so why is it so hard for us to admit it when we are in prayer? I believe that the fact that David was honest, straight-forward, respectful and dependent on God was the reason why these Psalms became answered prayers. Our key to success is to open our hearts completely to God and and give our lives away to Him in total surrender.
The Psalmns help us worship and connect to our Father in faith. I love to listen to them on line through the Bible Gateway audio. Sometimes it is so difficult for me to just sit and wait for God to speak. Well, He speaks in His Word so I must take time and read it. Sometimes reading through devotionals is just something I do without my mind into it, so listening to The WORD with eyes closed helps me focus on Jesus and His presence. Thanks be to God for His indescribable gifts... God knows the whole picture, for now we know only in part....but, we will!!! someday! I just want to be ready! So if suffering enters the picture I can count it all joy to share in His suffering. But..."I know the plans I have for you", says the Lord, 'plans to prosper you not to harm you plans for hope and a future."(Jer. 29:11) So He desires our growth and to be productive and of service to others. I must choose and use it wisely....Thanks everyone!
To me, there's a lot of security in knowing that God is always there, never changing & that He's in control, especially when life is crazy & seems out of control. It's like He's saying, "You may not understand, but I do. There's no need to worry... I've got your back." There's a lot of comfort in knowing that & knowing that I can always rely on Him to carry me through any circumstance.
