Psalm 85:1-13
Psalm 85 is a petitioning of the Lord for restoration. The psalmist is looking back, recalling a time when God restored Israel and asking God to respond similarly in the present. It gives us a glimpse of the thinking and mindset of the writer, as well as yet another good look at God.
So what can we learn and put into practice from this Psalm? What does Psalm 85 show us about God? Tami W.

Repentance. Turning away from our sin. Only through Jesus can we do that. Oh how can I keep sinning when He did so much to give me life! We need to forgive as we have been forgiven. Yes, we need disciplines and rules of life to make sure we stay on the right path. In prayer and petition and self control we can work with Jesus on this. Is that what sanctification is? I KNOW I NEED PRAYER!
We also need to remember (and this should be easy) to Praise God Rejoice in Him all day and just behappy in Jesus!
This Psalm shows us that if we love God, we will listen to and obey Him, and he will keep us from falling into sin. I love how the New Living Translation puts it in verses 8-10:
8 ¶I listen carefully to what God the LORD is saying, ¶for he speaks peace to his faithful people. ¶But let them not return to their foolish ways.
9 ¶Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, ¶so our land will be filled with his glory.
10 ¶Unfailing love and truth have met together. ¶Righteousness and peace have kissed!
That is a very sweet picture in my mind; a sweet illustration of how righteousness and truth ought to be inseparable.
Let's try to stay as close to God as we can. In the morning let's ask him to guide us through the day. Give thanks for that which he grants to us each day.
I think there is a hymn called: "I need thee every hour." Some days can be like that.
Never forget that the Lord forgives us when we do wrong and ask him to forgive us. His love toward us is everlasting.
The reference to the unfailing(steadfast) love of the Lord is very encouraging to me. For there are times when we feel so very inadequate, especially when we know we have let God down. However, being reminded of the "love that will not let me/us go" gives me the will to press on.
For me the verse that speaks to me in Psalm 85 is verse 12 the part that says "The Lord will Indeed give what is good" this encourages me that what the Lord our God gives is indeed good and we should rejoice and be thankful. So my brothers and sisters be thankful and rejoice in all that God has given to you for it is good.
Thank you everyone for your comments!! It was uplifting to me, so thank you!! Our God is a GREAT God we serve!!
Thank Lord, where we can come together and share with one another and encourage each other. Have a wonderful day, everyone.
First time commenting. This Psalm...I need to be restored to God and receive His forgiveness, I need to forgive myself. I need fellowship so badly, that is why I found this blog.
