Proverbs 13:24; 22:15; 23:13-14; 29:15
All our verses today talk about and deal with discipline of children. Now I'm no longer a child when it comes to my physical age, but I am a child of God.
So what do these verses reveal to us about God the Father? How can we draw on and use what we see here as children of God? Tami W.

Reading these verse I find them refreshing, in that they are not only good advice for raising our children but also help me to understand my relationship to the Father much better. The father applies discipline to my life to keep from from loosing my soul. If we see his discipline in this light how it changes my reaction. My Father wants only the best for me and when I mess up he lovingly applies his discipline to correct not harm me.
When I hurry through quiet times of prayer and devotion, I don't give the adoration that is due to my Father. I misplace my priorities when I'm 'busy' working for Jesus, I don't take the time I should seeking God's true purpose that is nearest and dearest to Him. I can't have that deep fellowship I desire. He is waiting to give me guidance. How often I ignore His discipline. I must stay awake and watch and pray that Jesus will keep me from temptation so I won't bring Him shame.(Mt 26:41)
Praying together with the church(+BTTB)in a spirit of devotion brings me back to be accountable, and in fellowship and a renewed zeal for HIS WORD.(Acts 2:42) The elements and the breaking of bread together allows me to give thanks to my Mediator (1Tim.2:5) and recieve HIS Power and Strength. (Ephesians 1:18+19).
Discipline is so necessary yet so difficult for us human beings to do. God can do it without emotion and without anger. He can do it with omniscience. We struggle with discipline but as we discipline our children we do it with God in mind.
Hmmm, this is really interesting. I would like to hear more of what Tami W. would say about her questions.
I like the scripture references, it's timely; but for me, it is hard to think about how it relates to us as God's children.
It's amazing how we want to be like Him, but don't want to be disciplined.
For me the beauty about these verses is that its really all about God's love for us... A loving father whose ONLY interest is that His children grow into mature believers. For this to happen, He must disciple us along the way when we go astray....
Remember Proverbs 3:12 "For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth." Nigel W
I love these verses and they are so true. I didn't realize the one verse but it says the earlier the better. I'm glad my parents disciplined us early as children. It is sad most are not these days. We need to pray for them! Alleluia Lord Jesus, we pray for all the children in our world. Help them to get the discipline they need and desire. Teach them from a young age to be obedient to you. In Jesus Name, Amen.
As amom , grandmom & great grandmom , I believe in discpline ,the children in our world today need this desprately , to many of them are left to raise them selfs. We as grown ups need to take on this responseability again , and we need discipline from the Father , our God.
God is love, and loves me enough to discipline me. We need to do this for our children and grandchildren. As we live Godly lives, little ones take notice and copy us. "Oh Lord, help us to do and practice righteousness." We may be the only Bible some may read!
