Mark 10:46-52
Blind Bartimaeus, a beggar from Jericho, charged me up today. Bartimaeus finds out that Jesus is coming near where he's at and he immediately cries out for mercy from Jesus. The people tell him to be quiet, but Bartimaeus won't be silenced. He cries out all the more. As a result, Jesus hears Bartimaeus and calls for him. With no hesitation, Bartimaeus throws off his coat and "sprang up and came to Jesus" (vs. 50). He then boldly tells Jesus his need and request and Jesus responds "'Go your way; your faith has made you well'" (vs. 52).
I think I can learn a thing or two from blind Bartimaeus. So how can we use this passage to help us grow in our faith? Anything specific from Bartimaeus' story that touched you and/or that you can use in your life today? Tami W.

Bartimaeus is a great example for us to follow. When he hears about Jesus' arrival he cries out for something that we all need. He cries out for mercy. I'm not sure there is significance in the fact that he cries for mercy before he cries out for sight, but I know in my own life, I tend to focus more on the earthly things I need instead of the spiritual things I need. But Bartimaeus has the right priority. Spiritually speaking, I know that when God's mercy is flowing in and through my life, I can truly see!
hi and a bless good morning,it's so good when we read the bible and can truly see how God makes provision for us.Bartimaeus got the attention of Jesus-He heard and responded base on the situation around him-the noise.sometimes because of all the other voices and noises we fail to here went God is near, and give in to the presures of men.But like him we need to get to a place of desperation for change and make demands on our situation-by faith in the one who along can bring changeJESUS.He got Jesus's attention, and those around him.He got up and took off pity, and everything that will hinder him,so many time we fell sorry for ourselves, but we need to get up and up off.Face to face he was ask the question, and the man answered.so many times we are ask and dont have an answer, but he got what he ask because with faith all thing are possible to them that believe.GET UP,CALL ON JESUS,BE PERSISTANT,BE HUMBLE,THROW OFF HINDERENCES,ASK IN FAITH,BE SPECIFIC.
Even though Bartimaeus was blind he did not allow the people to "shut" him up while he called on Jesus. He persevered and Jesus acknowledged him. We too can learn perseverance that God hears us and we must continue to call on His name in prayer. Wait on Him. There will be persons who want to shut us up, but that does not matter we serve a Risen King who is our Saviour and we must keep in God's Word and continue to share the good news even when we are snubbed. Someone will listen. God will be with us.
Bartimaeus called out to Jesus believing He could heal him. I have a situation today that I have never been in before. I am calling out to Jesus for wisdom and grace. Please pray that I will be the hands, feet, and anything else God wants me to be today in a classroom where a student lost their brother in a car accident this weekend, and the teacher lost her brother a year ago. I was asked to go in and just be a support anyway I need to be. I believe God has placed this on my lap - and I want to honor Him.
Thanks!
He understands who Jesus is as he calls him 'son of David'; he believes Jesus can heal him; he ignores those around him who want him to hush or are annoyed with him; he is immediately obedient when Jesus calls him up.
I should be like Bartimaeus. Period. I have work to do. Actually, I guess I need to get out of the way and let God do the work!
I question my faith and beliefs almost on a daily bases. I tell myself all I need is the faith of a mustard seed I havee had to pray to let go of my hang ups and beleive in GODs abilty, to trust in GOD to care for my children my family my circumstances. It has been a diffcult jounery for me I lost a son 13 years ago and I know my faith needs to be better, I can not that I beleive GOD will heal me or my childern should I ask I can say that I know I should, thats why I repeat to myself all I need is the faith of a mustard seed God knows my struggles faith that waht is best will be. When I read this message I am reminded again having faith CAN heal us perhaps not a physical healing but a spiritual healing.
I think this afternoon of the truth that sets me free. The more I know about jesus the more I am able to experience his freedom. And it must be a constant pursuit. So easily I can forget how much better it is to live in the house of God. I want to be with him and seek him. I want to shout that I need Him and go out of my way to know him. I am thankful for P4 today that I can know that everyday is an opportunity to experience Christ more in my life. My prayer today is that I can see that he is in control when everything seems so unstable.
Thanks
Thanks for the great comments everyone. I really enjoyed reading them all. Janice, I whispered a prayer for you today. There are so many distractions that can block out Jesus from our lives. We need to see through those distractions and go to Jesus. He's always right there waiting for us.
Thanks for the prayers! It was a good day - because God was in it.
