Matthew 27:57-28:10

I spent quite a bit of time reading and re-reading Matthew 27:57-28:10 today. You see, I've read this passage so many times, so I set my mind on taking a little different approach. Here's where I landed. Instead of looking at the players in this passage and how they responded or what example they give us, I decided to take a more comprehensive approach. It took more of my time, but it was worth it and got me thinking outside the norm. Below are some of the questions I considered.

What does this passage show us about Jesus? How about our relationship with Him? What does it reveal to us about what we should be doing as followers of Christ? Tami W.

Three words; believe (He told them what would happen and it was true), worship (they fell down at His feet and worshipped Him), and go (they were told to go and tell the others to meet Jesus in Galilee). Those should be my personal motto; believe, worship, and go (obey).

this passage shows me that Jesus always says what He means and definately keeps His word....no falsehoods, no misleadings or misdirections. He said He would rise in three days, and He did just that. I need to trust and believe Him at all times. I may be scratching my head saying,"what could He possibly mean by that??"....but that does not excuse me from trusting Him and taking Him at His word. verse 8 tells us that the women were not only joyful, but also afraid. being afraid did not hinder them when it came to falling at His feet and worshiping Him. they then went to carry the good news to others. what an example!!

I love your comment Janice. Believe, worship and go. Very well said.

It shows me that Jesus cared to be personal so much! I overlook it a lot of days. I think whats the use in praying I have too much work to do, or what is the use in reading the Bible when I can watch a movie. I overlook that I can just be with Him. Jesus rose and He wanted to be with His friends, the ones close to him... He really wants to be with me. I am amazed that He rose from the dead and could do so many other things, but the first thing He wanted to do was go see His disciples.

I want to be with him too.

There is nothing Jesus says that won't come true. What jumped out at me were Pilate's words, "Make the tomb as secure as you can". That's what the Jews did. They made the tomb as secure as THEY COULD. But their power and their ability to secure the tomb were no match for God's ability to empty the tomb! When God decides to step into our ordinary world in a supernatural way, there is nothing that man can do to prevent that. God is sovereign and He is powerful and mighty and nothing proves that like the resurrection.

Yes! And Worship should be first then go!Praise God Who IS our perfector and finisher of our faith!
