Step Up

Judges 4:12-23

Today I thought it would be good to take a closer look at Barak, the second half of the tag team here in Judges 4. Barak was hesitant and tentative about stepping up and doing. But with prompting and reinforcement from Deborah and with the Lord going before him, he was able to completely rout Sisera's army as he led 10,000 men of Israel.

So what can we learn from Barak? Are there any tasks or opportunities you might be overlooking that the Lord has put before you? Tami W.

What I learned from the story of Barak is that we should not procrastinate when God calls us to step up and act, do His bidding. I have also learnt that He always provides support so we must always be prepared for the call and that is by having clean hands and a pure heart. To us, the task may look huge but we must always remember that it is not us doing the work but God through us. So what may seem huge to us is "trifling" to God. So we must trust Him and leave the rest up to Him.

I personally might be looking for other tasks or opportunity but I think for now I will concentrate on those the Lord has placed in my hands and do it with love. kindness and do it as the Lord intended for it to be done. When He sends another opportunity then I will run with it and am sure I would have learned from my other tasks because sometimes we mess up but He is there to help us clean it up. Our God is just AWESOME.

HI TAMI

MANY OF US (I SPECIFICALLY SPEAK FOR MYSELF)TEND TO BE LIKE BARAK. WE SEE A NEED OR A JOB TO BE DONE BUT HAVE A DIFFICULTY KNOWING IF THE LORD IS SPEAKING TO US AND TELLING US THAT THE JOB IS OURS TO DO OR TO FULFILL THE NEED.

WE OFTEN WAIT FOR ENCOURAGEMENT FROM SOMEONE ELSE BEFORE STEPPING UP TO THE PLATE. I GUESS THAT MOSES ALSO FACED A SIMILAR CHALLENGE WHEN HE WANTED AARON TO DO THE TALKING AFTER GOD GAVE HIM INSTRUCTIONS. IT SEEMS THAT WE HUMANS HAVE A LACK OF CONFIDENCE PROBLEM IN DEALING WITH GOD.

PERSONALLY I FIND THAT WHEN A NEED OR JOB POPS UP AND I RESPOND IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT THINKING, ONE HUNDRED PERCENT OF THE TIME GOD AFFIRMS MY DECISION BY ALLOWING THINGS TO FLOW QUITE SMOOTHLY. CHALLENGES DO ARISE SUBSEQUENTLY BUT HE ALWAYS ALLOWS ME TO OVERCOME.

YES, I AM SURE THAT THERE ARE TASKS AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT I OVERLOOK THAT THE LORD HAS PUT BEFORE ME BUT I AM IMPROVING DAY BY DAY BY GOD'S GRACE AND HIS HAVING PLACED BTTB AND THE POWERED BY 4 TEAM IN MY LIFE. YOU GUYS ARE BEING THE DEBORAH IN MY LIFE.

REGARDS IN CHRIST

I think most of us when we think about Barak, we think what a coward he was and not having enough faith. But that's like most of us. We are hesitate in doing what the Lord wants us to do. But there's hope, because we can always enlist ppl in helping us to do what the Lord wants us to do. We are never out of friends, even when we think we don't have anyone, we still have Jesus.

Hi Tami,
I'm kind of discouraged because I'm not receiving P4 Blog nor the Bible minute on a regular basis. I changed my email address last night to see if that would help, but I still didn't receive anything today for the P4Blog. Any other suggestions?

I've saved 'Powered by 4' on my favorites so I can go to it easy anytime. Unless its a security problem check your trash folder.
I enjoy your comments Carol.
RE: Judges 4; Swallowing pride is non-fattenting. Barak was another mighty man of valour who swallowed his pride. God was with him. Barak trusted God, he fought on with Deborah at his rear. There will always be someone who opposes us. So we must stand together and fight the good fight. We have victory in Jesus.Pride is the root of all sin. Right from the start King Jabon was fighting a losing battle. Sisera was in the wrong army. We can turn our eyes toward Jesus. We are the body of Christ and we can do all things through HIM.
Thank you BTTB.

Carol,

Sorry to hear your emails have been hit and miss lately. After checking your account, it doesn't appear the emails are bouncing back to us as undeliverable. When this is the case, we usually recommend checking your spam and junk mail filters. Sometimes emails will suddenly be caught by these for unknown reasons. If you do not find them tin a junk mail folder, it might be necessary to contact your email provider to find out if they're able to pinpoint the issue.

Please let us know if we can help in any other way!
