Read & Respond

Nehemiah 13:1-14

Yesterday we looked at thanksgiving and singing as part of the dedication of the wall, and today we see that the reading of Scripture was also an important part of this dedication. I was drawn to the first three verses (Nehemiah 13:1-3) where we see how the people responded right away once they heard the law. But I was also a little saddened because the people had obviously fallen away from God and, as a result, were not familiar with the laws He had given them.

So what can we do both before and after we read our Bibles to help us tune in and be responsive to what God has for us? Tami W.

Once the people heard the Book of the Law they turned to God! And saught His kingdom and His righteousness first. They avoided worshiping with idol worshipers and pagans who do not think or love God the way they do.
When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, men go into hiding.(Pro.11:10;28:12+29:2)
When Nehemiah found out about the evil that had been done he took immediate action. We must stand for what is right and help those who need us. Nehemiah had integrity for God's Word and for the country to be blameless. He always trusted God and stood for what is right.
I must remember to turn to God's Word ask for His wisdom and His guiding hand to lead me in the right direction. Never a day do I want to waste. Yet it seems so many minutes are gone without giving glory to my Lord. Forgive me for forgetting You even for a second my Dear Jesus.

Isaiah 43 was good to meditate on today

Tami before we read our Bible we should ask the Holy Spirit to dwell within us and show us what God has in store for us hat day. We must always have our mind on life eternal that is our goal. Not temporal things but the things we live in hope for, for the return of our Lord and Saviour and to live a pure and godly life that He will be so proud of us. We must place our trust in God and not in man or wordly things.

After we have read our Bible thank and praise God for His Word and ask Him to guide our every footstep. We must be willing to share with others what we gained from the Scripture especially if it is something new.

Pray, pray, and pray again. Prayer opens an avenue of communication between us and God. So before every attempt to encounter God, pray. During every time spent with God, pray. And after every time spent in God's presence, pray.

Please pray that I can continue to rely totally on God to guide and lead me thru all of life's challenges and give him total control.
