Isaiah 66:1-14
Powerful and thought provoking words from the Lord here in Isaiah 66:1-14. I was drawn to the last words of verse 2, "this is the one to whom I will look: he who is humble and contrite in spirit and trembles at my word." Now I love this whole thought, but those last four words "and trembles at my word" really grabbed me. I thought about this phrase and what it meant and ultimately ended up asking myself Does this describe me?
So what does trembling at God's Word mean to you? How can we make sure that this phrase describes our attitude and approach to God and His Word? Tami W.

For me I am reminded of the words in Proverbs 9:10, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Fear and trembling, indicate the difference in power between mortal man and God. Heaven is God's throne and earth is his footstool, v 1. We need to accede to God's word and follow his instructions but this can only happen if we have the right attitude. It is all about understanding the vastness of God's power then we will be in the right attitude.
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Gen 1:1
HI TAMI
I AGREE WITH EGLON. WE ARE NOT WORTHY OF EVEN BUILDING A HOUSE FOR GOD AS HE CREATED EVERYTHING. WE CANNOT BY OUR DEEDS BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR GOD AND IF WE THINK SO WE WILL BE PUNISHED.
WHEN WE RECOGNIZE THAT WE ARE NOT WORTHY OF GOD EXCEPT BY HIS GRACE WHICH GAVE US THE LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS THE CHRIST, WE WILL HAVE A HUMBLE AND CONTRITE SPIRIT THAT WILL ALLOW US TO TREMBLE AT GOD'S WORD.
I BELIEVE THAT THE PASSAGE IS ALSO TELLING US THAT WE MUST NOT DO EVIL IN GOD'S NAME PARTICULARLY AGAINST THOSE WHO FEAR THE LORD AS WE WILL BE SEVERELY PUNISHED.
WE SHOULD ALSO LOVE AND PRAY FOR JERUSALEM SO THAT WE MAY REJOICE WITH HER WHEN GOD BRINGS HER TO FULL FRUITION.
REGARDS IN CHRIST

Humility means a great deal to God. Jesus who owns the heavens and the earth came down from heaven in humility. He had no where to lay His head. Trembling at God's Word means for me that I revere Him at all times. That I read and study His Word. That I meditate on His Word and wait on Him. I am trying to work on meditation and waiting on Him, where I can have my quiet time with Him alone. Please pray for me. In Matthew 18:4 our Lord and Saviour said, "Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven".
We must therefor be humble in our hearts and show respect to our Lord, who created us in His image. He has truly blessed us with life and all good things so we must in turn give Him thanks and praise. We must show Him our gratitude. He knows everything about us but it is even more wonderful to kneel before Him and tell Him how grateful we are. Thank You Lord for this day and for all the persons You have placed in our lives. Thank You for BTTB and may BTTB and all its staff continue to be a blessing to all who have access to the teachings and devotions.
Gen 1:2-3 The earth was without form and void and darkness lay upon the deep, and the Sprit of God was moving over the face of the waters. And God said, "Let there be light:" and there was light.
What an awesome God. HE created all. Thinking on that is very humbling and putting forth the effort to read HIS word I think brings us closer to being humble and fearful as well.
Yes and Amen to all...Fear of the Lord is beginning of wisdom. I pray I/we will not have the wrong fear full attitude like Judas who was deeply remorseful. I pray I'll be penitant with no regrets. To confess my sins for a clear concience and to yield and obey in joy with a pure heart. So I can freely run to Abba Father holding Jesus' hand. amen?
