Artful Deception

Revelation 13:11-18

Yesterday we were introduced to the Antichrist and now today, the false prophet or the second beast. Revelation describes him as having two horns like a lamb and speaking like a dragon (vs. 11). The false prophet is basically the right hand man, a powerful representative and henchman, for the Antichrist. As such, the false prophet will demand that everyone on earth worship the Antichrist, and those who refuse will be put to death. Drawing on the power of the Antichrist, the false prophet will perform great signs and deceive many people (vs. 13-14). Finally, it is the false prophet who will implement what we refer to as the mark of the beast (vs. 16-17).

One word kept coming to mind as I read yesterday and today--EVIL. The Antichrist and the false prophet are evil personified, and like their master (Satan) they are masters at deception. And the people on earth fall for it all.

So how can we use these verses to help us recognize and then combat the evil around us--sinful attitudes, sinful actions, sinful things--that are common place in the world? What do these verses tell us about our need to be proactive and on the offensive when it comes to being deceived by sin? Tami W.

the one offensive weapon we have is the Sword of the Spirit the Word of God. it is so important to be in His word and have it hidden in our hearts. this deception works on so many because they are not rooted and built up in the Lord. deny the flesh its desires. this is up to us to resolve to do so. and praise be to the Lord HE WILL HELP US . i love the verse that says "if it were possible" and it's talking about deceiving the very elect . Matthew 24:24
"For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if that were possible." i'm taking that to mean it is NOT possible to deceive Gods elect. 2Peter 1:10 "Therefore, my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall," i challenge you to read verses 3 thru 11 of 2Peter chapter 1. HOW INCREDIBLE . make our calling and ELECTION sure . NEVER FALL when we practice these things . PRAISE THE LORD !!!

Jesus' Revelation to John is for a reason to show us what we can expect and how we must chose. This shows how much He loves us! In Jesus' message to the churches He said, "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches". We have to listen as His Word teaches us to be good and faithful and not to walk in evil ways. He loves us so much He is showing us what lies ahead and if we believe and trust in Him and obey His Word then it will be hard for anyone to pluck us from His hand. God has always been fair and just. We have not earned salvation, He chose to give it to us a a gift. There are going to be false christs and prophets who will perform miracles to deceive us but if we keep in our heart what the Lord has told us while He was on earth and what He revealed to John then we can feel secure that He will be with us through these times especially when we see we can die for keeping our faith in Jesus. That is why we have to continue to read His Word and pray without ceasing and share His Revelation with all we come into contact with as we are blessed with life on earth. Let us pray that He will give us" the ability to discern what is merely incidental and what is of eternal value". (taken from a BTTB devotion). May He give us courage and strength to stand up for His principles.
It seems scary but we have the One True God on our side. Amen

Thank you Leo for the words of assurance in what will be times of evil. It is important to stay firm in God's Word. God will never fail us. Remember too that all this is happening before the final victory of God. John was given a picture of Heaven first, before this horror was shown to him. I believe it was to encourage him, and subsequently us. Heaven is our reward - and what a place it is! Knowing what we know should help us through the dark times, because we have been given a glimpse of our future reward.

All I could say to my daughter is "Do not be decieved, God is not mocked. Please don't die in your sins"...She is hurting her family so badly.
Please pray for my family's salvation. Please pray I'll spend more time in God's Word. I want to put HIM first above all. When it is family it's hard to distinguish.
