Zechariah 9:9-17
We're taking a break from Revelation today and looking at prophecy from Zechariah 9. The Book of Zechariah was written to the Jews of Jerusalem who returned from captivity. But no worries, because there are plenty of lessons here for us as well.
I read Zechariah 9:9-17 several times. In my first read through I found myself focusing in on the details of this passage--what was happening with the Jewish people and Zechariah's words to them regarding the future. But as I went back and read these verses a couple more times, my focus switched from the details of Zechariah's message, to God. I was actually a little surprised at how much information Zechariah 9:9-17 provides us about Him.
So read Zechariah 9:9-17 again but this time with a specific focus on God. Then, tell us what you saw, how it impacted you and what you can do with this information. Tami W.

This humble Jesus, is also the powerful leader of the battle between good and evil, right and wrong, the pits of hell and the gates of heaven. He IS the LAMB, but IS, also, the LION.
He is faithful to His promises, and Israel WILL prevail in victory. There will be victory one day for Israel, because of God's promise (the Bible says He is not slow concerning His promises), and GOD ALMIGHTY WILL FIGHT ISRAEL'S BATTLE! The reasons: (1) ISRAEL IS GOD'S CHOSEN PEOPLE (they are the apple of His eye) (2) ISRAEL'S VICTORY IS PART OF GOD'S SOVEREIGN PLAN (they will see His power, and who JESUS really is in the chain of events).
I heard a wise preacher say, "God's will is NOT always honored and/or carried out (come on, folks, we know that we do NOT always do the will of the Father, as Jesus did)....but, His PLAN WILL ALWAYS BE CARRIED OUT, because His PLAN is not subject to God's having allowed man to choose, nor is it subject to man's own choices. GOD'S PLAN IS SOVEREIGN, AND IT WILL GO FORTH, NO MATTER WHAT MAN DOES OR DOES NOT DO.
It's all in the BOOK, praise God! I'm so glad He is in control and knows exactly how to fix everything!
On my 1st and 2nd reading of this passage I was awed by God's grace and mercy over His people. Their evil ways/idolatry led them to captivity; however, the redemptive power and love of God has set them free again. He lovingly gave them power, hope, and strength to break the chains of their captivity. We have this same mighty, powerful, awesome God-today. He will save us from our woes, He will 'march before us' in our trials and tribulations, and 'fill us' anew. Great question about today's reading and I will continue to reflect on the restorative powers of the Lord and how He can change ANY situation into a beautiful one...
When I read Zechariah 9:9-17 I saw the prophecies of: the coming of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; His sacrificial death on the Cross at Calvary for our sins and His second coming. I saw the love that he has for all His people. Even though I know of the prophecies I am still overwhelmed at God's grace and mercy. I will continue to tell of His glory and power and I pledge to Him to continue to walk in the path He has laid out for me. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
The Lord is in control of all things! I like the phrase used in verse 12 of the reading; where we are "prisoners of hope". We are captives of the Lord, held by His never-ending love. He reigns & rules forever!
God is so good, unbelievable faithful to His word , to His people. He is forgiving, patient His amazing love, mercy & grace. Prophecy fulfilled, Gods promise lives.
Question, when was Zachariah written? I've had yet another week of attack & stand on the Lord Gods promises for myself & my 18 yr young daughter. He knows the plans He has for us as Romans 8 v 28-30 reminds me - thinking about today's shared reading.
Tami, such an encouraging word that is uplifting bringing with it restored hope & joy.

Like He did for Job in Job 42:10, God will restore our lives 2 fold! He loves us and knows our very hairs on our head. There is nothing hidden from HIM. He will restore Isreal according to HIS plan. His world will be perfect Rev 21:4. Dear + Holy Jesus in the midst of our sin You prayed and died for us. You forgave us from the cross for we knew not what we do. But you are most worthy. We need to Worship YOU even though we are unworthy because of sin, but you made us worthy by Your blood. Help us to be your light shining in this dark world and in unbelieving families. Thanks and Praise to Your Name. Please pray for my/all our grandchildren. Especially for my 18year old who is very interested in scorpions now, knowing not what its spiritual meaning is.. can we start over if we reach our children? Even so come Lord Jesus.
Mary, we'll be praying for the family member you mentioned. Tami W.
