Daniel 7:9-28
End times in the Old Testament? Yep. Daniel's dream in Daniel chapter 7 is like a sneak peak, a little overview if you will, of what's to come in Revelation. So you can consider this prep work as we gear up to really jump into the Book of Revelation next week on P4 and Back to the Bible.
Now I'm a firm believer that God doesn't put things in His Word just so we can have head knowledge. He puts things before us so we can draw on them and put them to use as we live for Him. So how can we draw on and use Daniel's vision and its interpretation in our lives today? I know, this is tough, but it's a question we'll need to keep before us as we work through Revelation. The temptation will be to let ourselves get caught up in all the details and the goings on and not step back and consider why it matters for us to know this information and what we should do with it. So glad to be back online!! I have missed these devotionals in my inbox and am very excited to be delving into Revelations!!
I believe that the more we know and understand through the Word of God, the better we can stand against the fiery darts of the enemy that would lead us from the Truth.
I am just an unworthy sinner, an ignorant grandma. But I feel (there I go again with feeling)all the details have symbolic meaning for us. Even in the first books of the Bible have many instructions from God to the Israelites. There are symbolic meanings of the items used in the Tabernacle to teach as an example to us. Always pointing to His plan of salvation to The only One Who is worthy! The Holy One. God delights in us and wants to communicate with us. I can praise Him and give Him glory and Honor. God is in control! We are to have reverent fear and obedience. We must pray fervently and be ready. The Bible is inexhaustible! I find the more I study the less time in the day there is for other things.I can read commentaries that help explain hard things. But life must go on. So even when I put God first, I realize I must at some point, close the book and with peace, put into practice what He said so I’ll remember it! I’ll trust the difficult things to God. I pray we all will have peace that is beyond understanding.
Wow... I'm not a bibical scholar, But I'm amazed to see the preveiw of revelations in Daniel. while I realize that the old testament is a foreshadow of the new I still remain awestruck by the way the propheses unfold
We can draw on and use Daniel's vision and its interepretation in our lives now! The end times is very real and it affects each and every one of us on earth. Either we are for Jesus or against Him and there is NO in between. We have to decide. He won't choose for us. So until Jesus comes back, if we are for Him, we are to work for Him while we wait. And as Daniel's dream unfold, and they will...we are to press on and work even harder because we will know the time of Jesus' return is near.
I started seriously studying the bible about 10yrs ago. When I started there was soooo much to meditate on, to consider and to ponder that a study of the end times was too much for me. Then several years later, I started listening to Woodrow Kroll's radio bible study as I got ready for work at 6:30am in the morning. That summer he did a study on Revelations. Dr. Kroll had good sound teaching on Revelations, that it wet my appetite and I thought, Lord, I don't have the understanding or time right now, but can you give me an understanding of it sometime in the future. God is so faithful, because a few years ago, He started giving me a longing to get to know all about the end times. And it really is fascinating!!! God keeps giving me Amos 3:7 moments which let me know that I don't have to know everything. I just need to KNOW the ONE who knows EVERYTHING.
I love the title "Ancient of Days" in Daniel 7. The reminder that God's kingdom is eternal and never ending brings me peace. Because God is the "Ancient of Days" it ensures that one day good will win over evil forever. God is the Sovereign one and sees the past, present, and future. How this works I have no idea. I'm thankful though for God's self-disclosure so that we can know somewhat of who He is and have hope.
Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, before He went to the cross for our sins, prayed for His disciples John 17:6-19 and He aso prayed for the church John 17:20-26 (quoting verses 20-21 only)." Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; that they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in Thee, that they also may be one in us; that the world may believe that Thou has sent Me" KJV.
Our Lord died for us so we should be loyal to Him, believe in and serve Him as He has said. If we walk and do as He says then all will be well for us. He said it and His promises are true. We should keep in His Word, be patient and wait on Him. Yes, it is hard because there will be trials and temptations but He has promised that He will never leave us nor forsake us and if we believe that then just let us do as He says.
Heavenly Father, I pray that you will lead and guide us through all the trials and temptations. We believe in You and we thank you for including us in your prayer for the church. Thank You Lord for giving up Your life for us sinners who do not deserve your mercy. Amen
sometimes i use an end time detail to minister to a person who doesn't want to give their life to Christ . i will tell them in a mild voice that there are things that will happen and if they see those very things happening to remember our conversation . remember what i told them about Jesus and that it was the truth . i'm sure there are ways we need these things but i think when we teach about endtimes it's more for those who will be left behind during the great tribulation . for them to remember our words and turn to the Lord .
Here is a comforting thought. The king on the throne in Daniel's vision is described the same way by John in Revelation. God transcends time - He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Another comforting fact is that God God knows what is happening, and has let things happen for a "season". Seasons, as we know them, eventually change. So no matter what we are going through, we can take comfort in the fact that God knows, and He will deal with it - when the time is right. Our troubles will not last forever.
HI TAMI
DANIEL'S VISIONS HAVE BEEN ALMOST AS MYSTERIOUS TO ME AS REVELATION THEREFORE, I THANK GOD FOR THE DAY IT WAS RAINING SO HEAVILY THAT I COULD NOT LEAVE THE CAR SO I SAT LISTENING TO ALL OF BACK TO THE BIBLE AND SO FOUND OUT ABOUT POWERED BY 4. I JOINED UP THAT SAME NIGHT AND ABOUT ONE WEEK LATER BACK TO THE BIBLE ANNOUNCED THE STUDY ON REVELATION.
GOD IS AWESOME.
REGARDS IN CHRIST

What crossed my mind from reading today's devo is accountability and to be on guard- be on the lookout for the return of the Lord. I love how God has it all planned- He's holding nothing back from us and we must be ready for His return. In the days of judgment, the Lord will hold us all accountable and when the keys are given to the Son, I want to be among the saints that join Him.
Thankfully, I believe those who are the "church" at the time of the rapture, (yes, I do believe in a pre-milennial, pre-tribulational catching away of the church, along with Dr. Kroll) will be in heaven with the Lord while these things described are taking place on earth. Personally, I believe "anti-christ" is also a very real person, who will, for a time bring much grief on the earth. By that time, there will have become new believers, but, oh, the suffering they will need to endure! How precious that God has made a provision for those of us, each and every of us, who will choose to receive His Son, Jesus, NOW! Praise His Name forever!
When we look at Daniel and parallels between Daniel and Revelation, it is a reminder to me of the plan that God had all along. He knew right from the beginning what history would be. He had His plan of redemption in mind all along. More than that He gave me the opportunity to be on the winning team as one of His children.
