Focused Worship

Revelation 4:1-11

Can you imagine day and night, never ceasing worship? Because that's exactly what we see in Revelation 4:1-11, and it's awesome. Look at the words that are continually on the lips of these six winged, eye-covered creatures, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come" (verse 8). And then, the words of the 24 elders. "Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created" (verse 11).

So what did you see/learn about worship from Revelation 4:1-11? How might we draw on these examples with regard to our own worship? Tami W.

P.S. If you want to know more about John's vision in Revelation 4, (who, what, where, etc.) then join Dr. Kroll and me for Back to the Bible today. You can listen 24/7 at www.backtothebible.org.

I could use a little more discipline to take away from regular daily activities and just sit to listen to BTTB..Then I wouldn't miss so much of the conversations. But unfortunatley that takes time..I love hearing all the wonderful insights here. I'm thankful for all BTTB offers. There is soooo much! How do we keep up? I pray for all of you to be part of the heavenly leaders of priests that God has called you. Grace,Blessing + love always.

HI TAMI
IT WAS JUST YESTERDAY THAT I WAS THINKING ABOUT WHAT LIFE WOULD BE LIKE WITH GOD. I RECOGNIZE THAT WE WERE CREATED TO WORSHIP, PRAISE AND GIVE GOD THE GLORY BUT SO MANY THINGS HAVE HAPPENED TO DISTRACT US FROM THE PURPOSE OF OUR CREATION THAT IT HAS LEFT ME WONDERING. I BELIEVE IN GOD AND I ACCEPT JESUS CHRIST AS MY LORD AND SAVIOR BUT ALL OF US HUMAN BEINGS FOR THE PRESENT BECOME BORED WITH REPETITION THEREFORE, IT IS A LITTLE CHALLENGING TO IMAGINE CONTINUOUSLY WORSHIPING GOD ALTHOUGH, DO NOT GET ME WRONG, HE IS MORE THAN DESERVING. IT THEREFORE MUST BE THE CASE THAT A RADICAL CHANGE IN OUR MAKE-UP MUST TAKE PLACE SO THAT WE WILL REVERT TO WHAT WE WERE ORIGINALLY CREATED FOR.
GOD CONTINUE TO BLESS YOU AND THE TEAM AT BACK TO THE BIBLE AND I HOPE THAT I GET A RESPONSE FROM YOU.

REGARDS IN CHRIST
CECIL

Good morning everyone. This passage Tami, teaches me to worship and give God thanks everyday and as often as possible. He is our Creator. He has never ever changed. He is still the same. Without Him we cannot survive. Without Him we are lost. I thank God for leading me to BTTB site and for Powered by 4 which keep us alive in Jesus. Even when we do not offer a comment it is always breathtaking to read all the comments. The Book of Revelation was always hard to read prior to my getting into Back to the Bible devotions and Bible Studies. I Thank God for opening this door for me and I pray that He will always keep it open so that many others will be part of this wonderful blessing.

Thank you all. Ed is everything OK with you? I missed your comments. I pray for you all and ask God to strengthen us that we will never lack faith in Him.

Let ys too worship Him with "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come" (verse 8). And the words of the 24 elders. "Worthy are You, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created."(verse 11)

What I've been thinking about, regarding worship, after reading this passage, is: We worship God Almighty FOR WHO HE IS! We do not worship God for what He gives us; we do not worship God because we get a "positive", or a "yes", answer to a prayer we have prayed.

We worship God FOR WHO HE IS; AND we THANK Him for what He has already done. Anything more is "icing on the cake", anything beyond..is more than abundant living due to His grace and mercies.

The Bible tells us Jesus wants us to have life and more abundantly. But, just to be able to approach the Throne of Grace, to commune with the Father..IS pretty "abundant" for me. And we know that prayer is not only asking for things (and IT IS FINE TO ASK, as the Bible also says "cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.)" But, prayer is our communication with God: it is our private, alone time with Him...not only to TALK WITH HIM, but to LISTEN TO HIM.

From these passages, I think it's clear that the "church" will finally understand what is true worship when we arrive in heaven (as pictured vividly for us by John's vision of the 4 living creatures and the 24 elders). The elders fell before the Lord, even as they saw and heard the worship of the 4 living creatures.

Surprisingly, dear friends of Powered by 4, I think, when we get to heaven, we WILL know what to do, just as the 24 elders knew immediately what to do. Once in heaven, we will attain more knowledge and understanding of things than we'll ever have here on earth! Praise His name forever! What marvelous provision God has made for us!

Great comments everyone. Yes, we do worship God for who He is. What a great reminder Susie. Just like the song says - not because of who I am, but because of who You are. I think heaven is going to be so awesome. We can't even imagine it now. We will be worshipping like we never have before. I often wish I could be in more worhip services during the week. In heaven we'll have all the time we want to worship God. Keeping that in mind, I think we should also try to worship God in our hearts during the day as well - even when we are busy. I want to try to do better about that.

I try to carve out time in early in the morning and late at night for devotions; I find this really helps. I listen to the BTTB podcasts on an mp3 player during my commutes to work, so I use that downtime to stay caught up on Dr. Kroll's Bible studies. That way, when I get home, I don't feel rushed because I need to listen to today's lessons. I find I can only get better at worshipping God if I can find those precious, secluded, quiet times away from technology and distractions.

the bible says in 1 John 3:2 that we will be like Him for we shall see him as he is. Thats an awesome statement, That we will be made complete in him. God is so marvelous that on this side of heaven I dont believe we can even begin to imagine how truly awsome he is, thats why John had a hard time expressing his thoughts in what he saw. Yall now how it feels on those special occassions when God blesses us in the spirit and all we can do is fall down on our face and worship Him. I believe it will be like that in heaven times an endless number. isn't that exciting what lays before us.

Just reading this passage brought to mind two contemporary Christian songs that echo these words, songs that struck me as beautiful. ("Revelation Song" by Phillips, Craig & Dean drew me in the very first time I heard it, and I left a voice mail with the worship leader afterwards about how good it was!) These are songs that I could sing forever in praise of my Lord and Savior, yet a far cry from the beauty of songs waiting for us to join in heaven! It is very easy for me to imagine an eternity worshipping Him in song and praise! We do serve a mighty and awesome God!

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."
Praise GOD!
