Revelation 5:1-14

There's a lot going on in Revelation 5. We're introduced to the scroll with seven seals, Jesus appears as the Lamb who had been slaughtered, we see the four living creatures and the 24 elders again and now added in are angels en mass. Now I know I just talked about worship yesterday, but the worship taking place here in this passage practically jumped off the page at me. Did you notice how large a portion of this chapter is dedicated to worship? It was so intense and "every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea" was participating. A pretty good indicator for us of the importance of worship. So any new thoughts on worship after reading Revelation 5 today? Do you see any changes coming for how you might worship? Tami W.

Certainly gave me a renewed perspective on worship! More humility and adoration for the Lord needs to be added to our current worship services!

First off...what an awe inspiring picture of Jesus. He's shown as a lowly slaughtered animal but with a Power and Strength that comes from being a victorious conqueror. Every creature in heaven, on earth, and under the Earth is aware of this power!

That awareness leads all of creation into worship...the kind of worship never before seen on the Earth. Honestly I am humbled by that kind of worship. I've never experiences anything like it and on one hand it scares me. On the other hand I'm enthralled by it. I can feel my soul yearning to stand before the Throne and worship the Lamb like that.

Oh, there is so much in this! Do a thorough study of the Old Testament Tabernacle and the Altar of Incense,(Exodus, etc). It’s awesome! True worship is ours! All the symbolism is woven throughout and tied to the New Testament and Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit's fruit we have in us, as sealed believers, are the Seven Spirits of Revelation; Love Joy Peace Patience Kindness Goodness Gentleness Faithfulness and Self Control (Galations 5:22). We are the sweet smelling fragrance God desires. He is reaching out to us through Christ as he did with the woman at the well in John 4:7-25. Mary showed true worship in (Luke 7:36-50). We are the priests called by God(Hebrews 7). Let your light shine! For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness, made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the (beautiful)face of Christ"(2 Corinthians 4:6). I desire to win God’s approval not man's(Galations 1:10). Oh My! I could go on and on and on! Forgive me for doing that... Oh Lord, our One True God help us to be more passionate in our Worship to YOU.

HE IS WORTHY !!!! thats what stood out to me .

I get excited when I think about Jesus as the Lamb who was slain but is now alive - especially the part where He is alive. That's certainly something to worship. He is all powerful.

Our God and Lord of lords is worthy and deserving of our worship every day. It is exciting and wonderful to know our God loves us so much. When I look back on my life and see how awesome our God has been to me who is not deserving of this love and how He continues to love and guide me, I can only praise and worship Him, because He is worthy. He our Creator and Almighty Father to whom all glory belongs. Thanks for all your inspiring comments. We do serve an Awesome God.

Regarding "worship," my mind's been drawn to the "holiness of God." Our churches today have many forms and programs of worship (and many of these are just fine, and some are probably not so fine)! But, once reading and picturing the scene described by John in Rev.,Chapters 4 & 5, I cannot get over the way John and those in heaven before the throne responded to God and to His presence.

John, when He first saw Jesus and heard that marvelous voice "fell as those dead." The 4 living creatures, cry "Holy, Holy, Holy" and do not rest. The 24 elders fell before the throne. Do I think I will not be so humbled? I know I WILL BE!

This totally causes me to want to show more reverence for the Lord, WHO IS HOLY! Any times I may have, in my day to day life (absolutely, never meaning any disrespect), could I have been less "casual", less "flip", or less "regular order of business", even in my prayers? Sometimes, I even hear so-called "Christian" songs that don't reflect God's holiness or any reverence for who He is. (This is just me, everyone), but, in MY future, I'm going to guard myself about being "routine", or, less than passionate in my worship and in my prayerlife. It's not a chore, it's a privilege and a blessing.

Yes, God loves us. Yes, I am His and He is mine. But, He IS HOLY! All references to Him need to reflect this knowledge, I think. I am SO going to try harder to do better! Thanks to the Father, through Jesus Christ, for giving us this picture of true, pure worship, that we might better understand and learn from it.

Yes, a few new thoughts - that my prayer and worship are woefully inadequate. How can we truly glorify and honor God to the extent he deserves? To be quite honest, I'm kind of dejected. Not only am I sinner who doesn't deserve forgiveness, I am unable to worship God sufficiently. If the angels and elders in heaven glorify God with song 24 hours a day, what use are my petty few prayers per day? Can anyone help me out with this?

Eric, None of us are perfect and we all sin, your not alone in that one. It is your desire to love GOD, to do His will that causes you to feel inadequate. We all are. That is why Christ came and suffered for us. His sacrifice is enough to cover your sin. From what you said you don't want to sin and none of us do. Take heart, we have a savior who covers it all. I ran around feeling that way for a long time. And it just took the knowledge I'm not alone. When I accidently sin I need to confess it, tell Christ I'm sorry and try not to do it again.

On worship, it is going to be so amazing to see all those people worshiping GOD. I was struck by what Mark B said about how Christ is lowly and conquer all in one. I love writing poems about worship. To be more humble as Chist is my cry. Blessings, Janice

We all are sinners but by our faith and HIS grace are we forgiven, How petty are your prayers if you pray several times a day? do you share his word with even a "God bless you when someone near you sneezes", how do you worship him, IN the morning when you wake, for the blessings of a brand new day. Do you thank Him at night for the blessings of the day, do you give thanks for each meal that provided for you? I may be wrong but any prayer when done in faith is powerful in its own right, just cause they don't seem to be answered in your time (God has his own time schedual)trust and believe they will be

Janice - Thanks for your helpful comments, I've been going through a rough spell, and this is just what I needed.
