The Love of Justice

Psalm 72:1-20

Solomon's very first words caught my attention today. "Give your love of justice to the king, O God, and righteousness to the king's son" (Psalm 72:1, NLT). The verses that follow then seem to support this request with examples and illustrations of what Solomon is thinking this looks like for him and his kingdom. Well I'm certainly not a king (or queen) and I'm guessing you're not either, but this same request of loving God's justice and righteousness should be on our hearts as well.

So what does loving God's justice and righteousness mean? What might it look like put into practice in your life? And how do we make this a desire of our heart? Tami W.

What are his responsibilities? He is KING and he must rule the people with justice. He must have wisdom to know what God wants. He must help others to survive their day. God's justice is holy and totally righteous. He expects us to be the same through Jesus.
What am I doing to bless others?… By God's Grace I can act with compassion toward others who are still in chains. It is hardest to do that in my family. But to go to the Women's prison, where they are hungry for Gods Word, I can show them justice by caring and encourage them to stay faithful in reading His WORD and helping them with school work.
He will be glorified there. In my family is where I need more wisdom and courage than even in the prison. It's easy to love them but is that enough?..I thank you for your prayers.

Nowadays it's pretty easy and common to get "stressed out". For me, loving the Lord's justice/righteousness, and knowing He's ultimately in control of all things - shines best in the person who is at perfect peace while all else around him is chaotic!

God is our Creator. Because of His love for us He has set certain guidelines to guide and protect us. Guidelines to make us happy and joyful; so that we can live in peace, harmony and unity loving and caring for each other. He just wants the best for us. He has always been faithful to us and He will never change. John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way the Truth and the Life; no man cometh unto the Father but by me". (KJV) He is He is slow to chide and quick to bless. He does not judge us but the time will come when He does and he will be just and righteous and will judge us accordingly.

He has done all this for me and I have seen His goodness so I have to share my testimony with others and let them know He is real and true. God could have chosen to have halted mankind and everything but His love is so great for us that He came down from heaven and took the form of man. He never sinned and went to the cross and shed His blood and died on the cross at calvary so that we can have salvation if we believe in Him. Do we really realise what He has done! What else do we require from our Lord. He has done it all. So let us ask Him to help us in our preparation for His return. Let us thank and praise Him and live as He asks. Read and live His Word, take up our cross and follow Him. If we truly love Him with all our heart, and with all all our sould and with all our mind and our neighbours as ourselves then the fire will burn in our hearts and we will yearn for Him.

What can we do for others?
About two months ago a man in our community was injured when a electrical transformer he was working on blew up. (He was a lineman for the BPU) He was severny burnt in the accident. I was asked by our church to go look at his house. While checking out his house we found some severe problems that needed to be addressed, so we gathered up the contractors, suppliers, and a team of volunteer help and did an extream home make-over for him. He is still in the hospital and dosen't know that we've remade his house. He was in hopes of attending his daughter's high school graduation, but will miss it (The local TV station is streaming it live to him) In the weeks involved God has shown His hand and compassion many times over as He has brought the community together. Praise Him for allowing me to be a part of this work.

Paul

For many years I have been diabetic and on November 4, 2006 (my second son's birthday) I had a stroke. Since then my life has totally changed in terms of my being much more aware of the presence of God in my life. I can now better understand Paul's joy while he was in prison as despite my many and ongoing health challenges I now readily speak to strangers, particularly young adults about God and find an inner joy in doing so that I never knew before.

Solomon's request of God for His righteousness and love of justice I can now better understand also as my illness is mainly outside of my control (yes I am eating better etc.) and in God's hand. I could have died or been paralyzed from the stroke so why has God spared me?. This is what I am now seeking answers for.

I believe that God sometimes obtain our attention by letting us come face to face with our mortality.

Regards in Christ

For me God's love of righteousness and justice is firstly an indication of how we must live. God has given us instruction in his word not only how we should live but also the consequences of our actions. "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life" Romans 6:23. We are therefore required to live a life of righteousness and justice as required by God. This love of righteousness and justice will also be evident in the way God judges us when he comes for his world. The words of Paul state, 2 Timothy 4:8 Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day -- and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
God's love of righteousness and justice is a requirement that I too exhibit this love and also an indication of the judgement that will befall me, since God will be rightous and just in his judgement.

God's rightousness is a gift to us through Jesus Christ . to me it's 2 fold . The Lord does what is right and bcause i belong to Him my heart should desire the same as He does . God is just and no matter what is going on in the world He will make it right . it may not seem fair sometimes but He is not willing that anyone should perish . i need to be just as forgiving and loving as the Lord . "wise as a serpant and harmless as a dove."

Yep, I think love the LORD your GOD with all your heart and your neighbor as yourself is a good start at living more righteously and just. Thank you for sharing everyone, I enjoy reading comments and getting good info from them as well!

My desire is to live every day according to His will; doing unto others as I wish they do onto me. To live His Word and to Bless others with His Word. To exhume peace even in the midst of turmoil not with my strength but in total surrender to Him such that others will see His strength and glory. I want to be blessed to be a blessing unto others and not expect back. Praise be to God as He grants our desires side-by-side His purpose for our existence.

When I hear songs of the crucial death of Jesus it just hurts so much and praise him with all my heart and soul for the gift he gave us for our sins. He has freed me from my sinful ways. God is good all the time , all the time God is good!
