Speak Up?

Acts 27:1-12

Well Paul is now on his way to Rome via ship, and the journey is dragging out and getting longer and more dangerous with each passing day. It's at this point that Paul, not a seasoned sailor, speaks up and warns the centurion that he (Paul) believes and senses that continuing the trip would be dangerous, even to the point of loss of life. (verse 10). No one pays any attention to Paul's words, however, and as we'll see tomorrow, a wreck is indeed in the making.

So how do we determine when or if it's appropriate to step up and give our advice? What about when someone gives us advice? How do we determine if it's godly and should be followed? Tami W.

This question is not as simple as we might think. I think the appropriate time to step up and offer advice is when our advice is asked for.We must ensure our hearts are pure and that we do not have any known sins that we have not sought forgiveness for from our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; and yet, if we find it in our heart that we are not sure the advice we are giving is in line with God's Word we should not. In matters like these we must pray and ask the Holy Spirit to guide us. God's Word is the law by which we should live and if our advice is not God inspired we should not offer it but seek the support of our priest or pastor or a Bible teacher. We must walk uprightly and be in touch with God before we can provide any advice to anyone.

I believe each of as believers has the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We should be in-tune with Him so that when an advice is given or suggestion is made, we can tap into that Divine Resource and seek confirmation. It is the responsibility of each believer to ensure that the advise or suggestion he/she is about to follow, is from the LORD!

this is a big question because Paul has seen an angel that told him what to do.
His advice was seemingly prophetic, there are so many who claim direct words
from God these days, and for much of it there seems
To be scriptural support, discernment gets very cloudy.
