Ephesians 1:3-6; Galatians 4:3-8
Enslaved by sin to being a son and heir of God. What a beautiful depiction of our lives as a Christian.
So what's the importance of this status change we see in verse 7? What does the phrase "no longer being a slave, but a son" mean for you personally? Tami W.

Remembering I am HIS child makes God my Daddy and He is trust worthy to go to for counsel and love. Even when I've sinned. I know He will show me the way. Please pray my daughter will turn to Jesus Christ The Only One Who will make the way clear.
How could it be possible for me, a sinner, to be accepted by the sinless God of the universe?
Eph....In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ,
As an adopted sons we were selected! Why would He select me? I know what I'm like! Incredible love!!! Overwelming!!!
I learned something new today while reading my footnotes for Ephesians 1:3-6. We are actually holy and without fault in God's eyes! How can that be? I've always had the mindset that only Christ appears in that condition to God, but when we belong to God through His Son, Jesus Christ, God looks at us as if we have never sinned. That certainly humbles me! I have so much to think about today because of these two passages. Thank you, God!!
When I read this passage, vs. 7 reminds me of the prodigal son- he took off, lived worst than the slaves/hired help. Once he returned home, his father rejoiced and clothed him in robes and put a ring on his finger. God loves us so much that we don't have to live as slaves but live in the freedom of His love. Through His grace, we aren't chained to sin or the evils of this world. As sons and daughters, we can go before our King and make our requests known to Him. He loves us so much that He delights in us and wants to bless us. Thank You Jesus.
Mary, I pray that your daughter will see the love of Jesus Christ.
It means that I can have abundant life!
I went to a bible study on Wednesday night and we were discussing 2 Peter and found these verses in the first chapter so inspiring.
2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
3According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
5And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
12Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
The importance of the status change in Galations 4:7 is that when you submit to God you are a part of Him. We all know that when we feel like we are a part of something or someone we, too, want to see it become successful and feel compelled to do our part to add to its success. So it is here, with being a son/daughter of God--we are a part of the success of God's master plan. There are two awesome things that come with this: 1) God doesn't need any of us but he wants all of us, because HIS plan will succeed no matter what and 2) ANYBODY can be a part of this family and has a part to play in the family that is unique to them!
The phrase, "no longer being a slave but a son," means to me that once I chose to submit my mind body and soul to God I was adopted into HIS family; which brings me under His grace. As long as I stayed out of the family I was a slave to the law of the world. Struggling to find my place in the world separate and apart from the group and never finding it. It is funny, God set it up this way, He has a law for the unsaved that they MUST follow (regardless of what they think or believe)--the law of the land, and He has a law for the saved and that is grace and mercy. Having been on both sides of it, I found the law of grace and mercy suits me better. Jesus said, "Take my yoke upon you and learn of me, my yoke is easy and my burdens light." Such truth in that statment the burden of life falls away when I cleave to Him for dear life!
Thank you God!
By God's grace only, not because we earned it, God sent forth the Spirit of Jesus into our hearts, the hearts of sinners so that we may receive the adoption as sons of God. Because we are sons of God we are also heirs through Jesus Christ our Saviour. What a revelation! If God loves us so much and He does, why do we continue to err? Lord Jesus, forgive us our sins and help us to follow where You lead and keep us away from evil.
Mary, I pray for your daughter that she will seek Jesus, the Light of the world and that He will keep her away from temptation and evil.
"Accepted in the beloved" is what came to mind; "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved" Eph 1:6 KJV. From "dead in sin" to "alive in Christ" is only something God can do by His goodness and grace! We just need to remain close to Him. "Let nothing between" as the old hymn admonishes.
No longer being a slave but being a son means that I am finally free. Free from the wages of sin, free to have hope not only in this life but in the life to come. Free to inherit the benefits of sonship to be proud to call God father and to live for him. Free to be happy and to know what true happiness is, free to worship the only true and living God. Free to have "all things added unto me". Free to access his many blessings through prayer to have a Wonderful Counsellor to help me when I need guidance, to have peace in my life from the Prince of Peace, free to have the power of the Mighty God at my disposal.
Praise God from whom all blessings flow...Praise him!!!!!!!!!!!
Mary I join in prayer for your daughter, may Jesus be the light of her life??
I am accepted and forgiven. I am a dad of a 18 year old son and a 15 year old daughter. My wife and I always tell our kids that no matter what happens during the day, you can be assured when you come home you are always loved and accepted. As I get older I am starting to realize how much God loves us and how powerful His love really is in our lives.
As we approach this Memorial Day we remember those who gave their all for our freedom. But we know that the ultimate true freedom comes from Christ who died to make us free. Jesus is the model for anyone who has ever sacrificed for another. Thank You, blessed Saviour!
Mary, I am praying for your daughter's salvation. I have a son who was lost and was living a wayward life. Many people gave up on him. I remember feeling so alone, but then I would remember that as much as I loved him, God loved him so much more with a perfect love. God wanted him to be His. My son has since come to Christ and is now a mighty man of God.
Mary, we will keep on praying with you for your daughter. Don't give up!
What struck me was that He CHOSE me. He KNOWS my name...amazing!
