Isaiah 53:2-6; Ephesians 2:4-9
What perfect passages today as Easter is fast approaching and as I'm in Israel with 200 or so people on our annual Back to the Bible Israel tour. As I read in Isaiah, my heart was heavy just thinking about what Jesus endured so that we could have salvation. But that heaviness turned to thankfulness and gratefulness as I finished in Ephesians.
As we celebrate Easter this weekend, what are some ways we can show our love, our thankfulness, our gratefulness to Christ--both publicly and privately? Tami W.
P.S. Our BttB Israel group will be having an Easter Sunrise Service on the Mount of Olives (How cool is that?). Are you planning anything special this Easter or maybe you have an ongoing Easter tradition?

No greater love was ever shown than that of Jesus willingly going to the cross for us! It's certainly a time of rejoicing, as He arose on Easter morning, and conquered death/sin. But it's also kinda sad - as so many in the world today don't understand the meaning of the cross or even why we have Easter! We need to continue to show His love to a dying world!
Have a Happy & Holy Easter everyone!
My footnotes remind me that our salvation is a gift from God - we should accept with gratititude just as we accept any other gift. We cannot earn our salvation. I plan to show my gratitude at church this weekend at the sunrise service and following teaching children in Sunday School - I do hope they get it!. I will follow up my worship with a family dinner.
No greater love than this that a man lay down his life for his frend! I am so grateful to be one of Jesus' friends! There was one point in my life where I could not say that. I wll never know how much it cost to see MY SIN up on that cross! Why? Because my friend--Jesus took MY SIN from me [even in my darkness!] and paid for MY SIN with HIS LIFE! I do not have a friend I could name other than Jesus who loves me that much to lay down their life freely and willingly for my well being [and NO other gain]! Just thinking about that quickens my spirit.
Thank you God for dispensing your grace and mercy to me and accepting me as part of YOUR FAMILY.
Many of us are in some pretty negative places in life with joblessness, declining health, etc., including myself. But every day we wake up is an opportunity for good. To come to us or from us. I show my thankfulness to God by praising Him for this day, for the opportunities to be revealed, for His love that flows through me to be a blessing and not a burden.
We had a different service this morning. As we entered the church we were given a little bag with objects that pertained to Jesus' trial, death, and resurrection. I will have that out in the open so that people can ask about it. At the end of the service our Pastor had flowers to put on the cross. (The cross was covered in chicken wire.)That was to represent giving desert areas - hurts, sin... to God, so that He can bring joy (flowers) out of the darkness in our lives. Very powerful!
To cool. To absorb history on the the mount of olives. Blessings to you and your group.
Wow Easter in Isreal, how great is that! I'm spending Easter with my family. It will be a nice time. Sharing the joy of Christ, I try to at the factory I work in. I know some people who are His but they feel condemned by their own actions. I try and lift them up and bless them on the good in them. I know Jesus will do the rest. He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it. I think this is the first time in my life where I didn't beat a stick over other's heads you have to do this or that or your condemned. That is no way of encouaging a fellow saint. Thank God I'm looking at life differently. I am enjoying the joy I see come from them when they are accepted and encouraged in Christ. :)
I am truly thankful to Jesus Christ for his love for us that led him to the cross. There was a time i used to cry everytime i watch the crucifixion of our Lord , but now i glory in the cross. My sins are nailed to the cross and Jesus is no longer on the cross, HALLELUJAH. Our Lord's message is still the same ,we must show love and give of our self to others in need without holding back. Jesus said in John 15 vs 13-14 "ye are my friends if you keep my commandments". Hope you all have a Holy and Happy Easter!
Thanks for your comments. Donna W. do not give up God will find you a job just do not lose faith keep hoping. Right now I am asking God to guide, lead and find the right job that He intends for you.
Just this morning, I was telling a friend I will be attending the three-hour service at my church today. Some people feel that that is too long but do you knoww what? the time passed so quickly singing hymns, Psalms, listening to the Passion of Christ and the various Bible Readings, prayers and the message from the young priest. My sister-in-law thought we only had a service for two hours. It was also great to hear this young priest speaking with authority and knowledge of the Bible.
On Sunday, I will be attending the 7:30a.m. service but before that I will rise early to devote time to my Lord and Saviour and see the sunrise. Can't say I have anything special planned for the day apart from reading God's Word and praying not just for family and friends but for the whole world.
You know what I find is rewarding, even though I do not look for anything in return is tithing or giving something back. Recently we were going through a rough spot. I told the Lord about it as if He did not know! My husband expected to receive some funds from last October/November and it is still outstanding but even though my pension is nothing great the first money I take out is my monthly tithe and still give something small to a charity. During the last two weeks in March, I received some unexpected funds and my husband is now expected to receive his funds next week. So God works for us when we let Him in and tell Him our problems. Remember the widow's mite. Do not hold back!. Happy Easter.
Tami
I know in my heart of hearts the Lord does heal because of the strips he bore for us. My family needs that healing so very much at this time in our lives.
April 17th 2009 my son and daughter-in-law and a couple of girls from their church were on their way to preach at a youth rally. A terrible car accident happened my daughter-in-law died instantly from a head injury she was driving my son just had her switch with him so he could prepare for the message that evening. He told her it was clear to pull out as she pulled out a pickup was changing lanes and hit them. They were all injured in the wreck. Easter was their last weekend together. Even though it has been almost a year he has fell deeper into depression and it has been the most horrible trying time of lives. You see they were married only 8 months his first love. He lost his wife, car, and job on that day. They were princibles at a christian school. They were a team in children's ministry and life. We need prayer PLEASE.
Praise Him! Worship Him! Honor Him!
I am far from Israel and wish I could be at that Sunrise Service, but Service at my church will do just fine. We had Service today and I am so happy that I was able to make it. God has a message for us even when we just want to go to worship Him and fellowship with other believers.
My Easter tradition is to spend time with Our Lord and Savior reflecting on what He has done for me.
Tina, what an incredibly difficult situation for your entire family. Please know I will pray for God's amazing healing and comfort for your son and the rest of your family. Tami W.
My prayers are with you, Tina, and your family this Easter.
On Easter Sunday, the tradition I began for my 3 girls involves a bit of work for me that we have all come to enjoy. The night before, when the eggs are hidden, the "Easter Bunny" uses the eggs to convey a Bible verse appropriate for Easter. One letter per egg, and the book, chapter and verse is included. Once the eggs are all found, the fun begins as the girls try to discover the pattern of the colored letters that form the words, and eventually they arrange it to read what it should - with a little help from dad if needed. Then we read the verse and passage from God's word together.
This has made the traditional egg hunting more meaningful for me and them as well, trying to keep in the spirit of what the day is truly about before the worship of Resurrection Easter Mass.
Easter blessings to you all!
Oh, Tina, my heart is breaking for you and your son as well as your daughter-in-law's family. I am praying that God will pull your son out of his pit of depression and despair. Remember how he delivered Joseph out of his pit and used him in such a mighty way? Even though it may not be a comfort right now, I think God saw something special in your son to allow this to happen in his life. I think of Gen. 50:20 when Joseph said to his brothers,"You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people."
I am praying for healing and more trust and faith for all of you during this difficult time
Dear Tina, I am adding to Cathy C's comments because I believe ehat she says is true. Your son is going through this pit of depression because of all the things he is thinking of only....But he should not beat up on himself. "God is faithful and just" and He loves your son and his ex-wife and all your family. Right now satan is trying to fill his heart with all lies so we as a group must pray for him and the whole family so that He will be covered with the blood of our Lord and Saviour and that He will pull Him out of this depression and let Him continue to minister to others. His wife would love this for him.
Dear God please strengthen Tina son and family's faith and let them know that You have not left them nor will You forsake nor will you let anything or anyone clutch them from Your hands. Let him know you will resore his life, his job and his car so that he can continue to be your voice to the youth. Lord, please guide each family member letting them know that we all have to go through adversities but you are right there to pick them up and restore them to a even better life like Job. I pray Lord that they I pray in the name of Jesus Christ our Saviour, Your Son. Amen
