Psalm 119:1-24

Wow!!! I love Psalm 119:1-24! It's rich, filled with statement after statement laying out the importance of God's Word. It's an awesome passage to read anytime, but it's particularly helpful in instructing us about our attitude toward the Bible as well as our approach to reading it and putting it into practice each and every day.
I found these two verses especially motivating. "Oh that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes!" (verse 5) and "With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!" (verse 10). AMEN!!!
So what spoke to you out of Psalm 119:1-24? Any fresh or new perspectives on God's Word and how vital it is for us? Tami W.
P.S. Getting Guidance from God's Word is our series this week on Back to the Bible. Dr. Kroll has much to show us about the only book God ever wrote. I invite you to join us and take part in this important study.

The second part of verse 10 "Let me not wander away from Your commandments" caught my eye. That has been the basis of my daily prayer. There are too many temptations out there not to be cover by prayer and trust in God!
Vs 18 "Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law" , really stood out to me.
We certainly need those open eyes (and hearts too) to actually see the beauty found in God's Word.
What I pray each morning, is to let me do and say the things that pleases my father.
I am totally feeling v. 20. It is very indicative of where I am in my walk right now. I yearn for His rules because I just want to live for Him and have Him use me. I don't want to just say I'm a Christian, I want to be an example.
Psalm 119 is a wonderful Psalm which helps us to keep God's laws. Verses 10-12 mean so much to me. In this sinful world I pray that " With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. Thy Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee. Blessed art Thou, O Lord, teach me Thy statues" (KJV). There is so much temptation in the world and people especially, the youth need so much guidance and God's intervention in their lives, that I ask the Lord to really guide and lead me and our people because we just cannot do it without His help.
I know He will teach us His way because He does not want to lose any of us so let us continue to pray not just for ourselves but our nation and especially our young people.
Considering I am still only getting 80% on the BTTB Bible quiz, I think I need to study longer and trust God with all the rest.I don't want to be a nominal Christian. To know God's Word is to know God better. Memorizing big passages at a time has helped me in times of temptation and times of sadness. I would love to memorize all of Ps 119! Please pray I will be still and know that He is God, and I am not..
Every verse of today's reading is impacting.vs 19 is somehow telling us that we are a stranger here on earth, and only with God teaching us His words to live a good life here earth, then we will make home(HEAVEN).May we have that grace to live right and make heaven.
I worry about our youth and what they see, and hear what is on Tv and radio is everything that pulls you away from God. The things that they view as normal and ok is terribaly worriesome. This is why it is so important to teach our youth now to take time to be in the presence of God by reading his word each day. That realy hit me today. By reading his word we are in his presence. Dr.Krools radio lessong and Tamis p4 has realy broaught this out for me today. I Try to do it every day and only have troubel cause the kids interfear. I need to make them apart of being in Gods presence each day. Thank you, for this realization cause the kids wont know what is wrong with our culture until we do this.
I enjoy talking to other Christians about our Savior and Heavenly Father. I love Bible Studies. But I always feel the closest to God when I am praying and really concentrating when I am reading His word. I just praise the Lord that we have many ways to keep in touch with Him
First there are several parts of Psalm 119 that speak to my heart, but sticking with the text as presented, I have to start with v9 "How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word." I tell my son to follow God's word to keep on the path that will lead him in the right direction. I have had my older son read this many times when he wasn't sure which direction he choose.
v12 "Blessed are You, O Lord; Teach me Your statutes." The Lord is Holy! I pray that He teaches me to walk in His ways daily. When I am up against negative situations, I trust in the Lord to guide me.
God's word is very important to us and we need to know it! How can we tell others about Jesus Christ, the Gospel or anything else that can get their attention, if we don't know the Word of God? Matthew 28 tells us to go out be disciples spreading the Gospel. We are required as God-fearing, Bible-toting Christians! Let us remember to share the Gospel with others and not keep it to ourselves.
v.10 is where I want to be. To have God's words, His commands/precept in my heart. In our day & age of technology and info. galore, it's easy to not have to memorize anything. I think it's important to get back to basics and store His word in our hearts/minds. This will further strengthen our walk with God.
v.14 is also amazing. David rejoices in God's statutes as one rejoices in GREAT riches. I can only imagine what it's like to be rich but David did have the material wealth/riches but it all paled in comparison to God and His word. Material riches fade away but the Word of God and His promises are eternal...
Essentially, this reading is a good reminder about the power of God's Word and how we need to be connected to it daily- prayer, Bible study and memorization.
Psalm 119 goes hand in hand with Matthew 13 Parable of the Sower - unless I take the time to read and meditate on the Word of God it's so easy to fall away. One day I feel so excited and on fire for the Word of God and then the next day I'm barely lukewarm, how am I ever going to be a good example if I don't talk and walk the way the Lord wants me to. Thank you for selecting Psalm 119, I'm going to start reading this every morning to start my day.
we not only find wisdom in the Bible, but the kind of love God wants us to demonstrate to Him & towards all kinds of people. & we cannot abandon our love for God because He first love us!
may we intimately fall in love to Jesus first before we intimately fall in love in a human. & let's see the effect of that.
