Make me a tent dweller

Psalm 61

We're back in the Psalms over the weekend before we start into a new set of Scriptures dealing with the Holy Spirit on Monday (be looking for that). Psalm 61 is a good one. It mirrors where I'm at many times--crying out to God when my heart is faint--knowing that He is my refuge and strong tower. As part of David's psalm, he asks, "Let me dwell in your tent forever." Now I bet I've read that phrase here and elsewhere a hundred times, but I've never really thought about it.

So if each of us was to make that request--Lord, let me dwell in your tent forever--what would we be asking for? Tami W.

I pray I will be watching for Him and serving Him when He returns. Always aware of His presence. But I know I fall far short of this. I can't tell you how much it hurts to fail our Lord. I Pray He will guide me and allow me joy in salvation.

David is asking to stay focused on God for eternity.
We live in a world of temptations & pressures.
If we stay focused on Jesus we will overcome disappointments to our Father. HIS tent is one where we overcome the world!
HIS tent is a refuge against the storms of life.
HIS tent is safty & comfort.
HIS tent focuses on Jesus & God.

Always being in the "strong tower" in heart, mind and spirit is the art, rather than when a trial makes me think that is the place to be. I also like how "The Message" says the "strong tower" is guarded by God's faithfulness and constant love. The older I get in my faith, the more I hope that by God's influence I am surprised to find myself constantly in Him, the "strong tower".

To dwell in Gods Tent forever would mean to dwell in His constant presence. How awesome it is that we can go before Him and just sit.

Studying with the P4 group has really been a blessing! You really ask a great, thought-provoking question today.

In short, it would be asking to "abide" with Him. To live with a sense of His presence continually. The Lord is always with His children.... but, unfortunately we are the ones that either withdraw for His presence by neglect or feel that He has abandoned us at times (especially during difficult times)

I read Psalms 61 this morning. I have been going through some tough times and this just went straight to my heart. Thank you for Power by 4

Daivd crying out to God for rest , the only rest we can find is with the Lord Jesus. He tells us to pick up the cross and follow me. So wear does he tell us it will take us .JOHN 14 Let not your heart be troubled: ye beleive in God then also in me.2 In my Father's house are many mansions:if it were not so, I would not have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.3 And if I go to prepare a place for you,I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that were I am, therE ye shall be also. Gods promises alway's come true.

To me, "Lord let me dwell in Your tent forever" means to never be separated from God and to be protected by Him in all that comes my way. To know that God is right here with me, leading me through.

Lord, let me dwell in your tent forever means to me that I will abide in Him and He will abide in me. He will take care of me. He will guide my every foot step. He will be my strength and my shield. I will have on His whole armour.... and I will look forward to His coming again in glory and what a day of rejoicing that would be for me knowing that my name is written in the Book of Eternal Life.

I must Love Him with all my heart and soul and mind. Love my neighbour as I love myself. Give Him thanks and praise and read His Word daily, pray without ceasing and share the good news with others so that they too can praise and thank Him for all the gifts He so freely bestowed on them/us. May His Word be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. May you all enjoy God's creation this weekend, its beauty and its wonder. Thanks Tami and BTTB and all of you for your inspirational responses.

I recently did a study of the tabernacle and its significance from Genesis to Revelation. This verse made me think of God choosing to live among us at first in the tabernacle/tent in the desert. He chose this even when David wanted to build him a temple. Tabernacle is God wanting to dwell among us..His whole goal His work on earth. To dwell in His tent forever means to me that we would be so connected in relationship to God that we are in His tent. An amazing thought to me!

IMHO, it just like when we ask total protection & total guidance from HIM.
Just like asking, "God, please lead my way..."
If we're dwell in HIS tent, it means we're under HIS command.

to dwell in His tent forever means means i have to be in relationship with Him,so that i will always be in His presence. Without Him being with us we amount to nothing. Moses said, if God will not go with them, they will not go. He understood the benefit of dwelling in His presence. All i ever desire now is to have a relationship with Him and dwell in His presence.
