Genesis 49:1-22

Even in his old age and with failing health, Jacob was true to God. Did you notice how he made sure he told Joseph and his grandsons all about God, His promises and His faithfulness? Jacob got the whole generational impact thing. Who better to tell Joseph and kids about God than grandpa?

Think about the people you know best, those people who you come into contact with regularly, particularly family. How are you letting them know about Christ? Are there additional ways you might communicate that message? Tami W.

there are many ways to communicate christ to people that are close to us. in every conversation, try and bring christ to your love ones. i mean every conversation, i love it with christ these days,i have peace talking about Him.

OK, gotta be honest again. I fail quite often in this area. I do pretty well sharing Christ with my wife and girls....but my extended family and friends are a different story. I don't seek out opportunities to show Christs love. I wait until it's "convenient."

I can most certainly do more to spread the word of God by my actions and words. I have been going through a rough personal time, and I have allowed Satan to cut me down by the deeds of others. But God is my strength and protection. When he lives inside of me and shows his love through my actions and deeds, I feel I am communicating the message of Christ to others.

I try to show Christ through my actions and words. I also like to right stories. Some of them have Christian themes. I hope someday this will be my legacy to my family.

Most of my biological family is in Church. But, my family is all of my Brothers and Sisters in Christ.

When it comes to speaking with others about Jesus Christ, I share recent Scriptures that I have read and I send inspirational text messages. We all know it is easy to talk to other Believers or those we know about Our Lord and Savior. But when we meet strangers, we should share Jesus Christ with them as well. It may be just in our actions or in our words.

Let's not be just closet Christians, but Christians through and through, so our love for the Lord radiates in everything we say and do!

I just had someone comment that they noticed that my family walked the talk (not that we are perfect in any way, shape or form), and that got them seeking God in their times of trouble. They also said that we accepted them without preaching at them. That tells me a whole lot about communicating Christ to others. (Please don't think this is bragging...I know I fail too.)There has to be consistency between what we say, how we say it, and what we do. That's a whole lot of depending on God to shine through us, despite us!

I read the bible to my 7 year old son every night. I am not sure if he is hearing what I am reading but I pray that he is. I found it interesting based that in the family history God told Rebekah that of the two sons in her womb the older would serve the younger Genesis 25:23. Joseph told his older brothers that he saw in a dream how he would rule over his brothers and yet when Jacob blessed Joseph's two sons Joseph became angry when Jacob blessed Manasseh over Ephraim.

Like Lisa, I share inspirational things mainly Bible Study and Devotions with my family and friends. I also testify to them of God's gifts to me as they occur. I let them know that through our prayers and reading of the Bible God does answer our prayers.

Just recently, someone asked my sister-in-law to call me to pray for him and people are always asking me to pray for them. I mentioned that I have no "special powers" and if they too pray and really believe and trust God their prayers will be answered. God does the work not me. All the glory belongs to Him alone.

Irene, you mention that every night you read to your 7 year old son but you are not sure if he is hearing. He is hearing. When I retired I went to Arizona to help my niece when her son was born. I got there the second day after the birth. I used to sign "Jesus loves me" and many other children's songs to him. When He was 3 years old we were in Florida, and he came to me and said, Aunty Joan sing the song you used to sing to me when I was a baby. I asked him who told you I used to. He said I heard you and He told me he wanted to hear "Jesus loves me". I sang it for him. He went to everybody in the house and sang it for them putting in their names telling them that Jesus loves them as I used to do. So keep reading to him. He is going to suprise you one day.

I try to share the stories of Jesus with my co workers and family. When it seems they don't want to hear it. I start singing Amazing Grace. How great thou art. Sometimes Jesus loves me. I am not gifted to sing but I sing somewhat in bass. They have learn I am in love with the Lord, That is why I sing.I am not ever afraid to share the love of Christ.

Yes, I agree that passing the batton is very important. It seems when they get around 10 they no longer want to hear "all the Bible stuff". However, when they get into a pinch or have questions they come to me. So, I know something is getting in. I just need to be aware of the devils strategies of discouragement and ridicule. He loves to let my emotions tell me the kids don't care and give up already. But not as long as there is breath in this body. However, I need to be sure not to thump them with the Bible and keep close to mind the Bible verse "Knowledge makes errogant but love edifies". Don't want my kids to think I am not listening. Two ears one mouth for a reason.

Firstly, I am retired, have been for over 10 years. The people I know best are family and sadly, although we all live in the same city, minutes apart, the 'coming in contact' is few and far between. When I say family I referr to siblings and their families. And again, sadly the only times we seem to have contact is when there is a 'crisis' among one of us. That's where myself and the Lord step in each time. They all know where my path is yet even in crisis', there are no quesitons asked of me(of my faith, what makes me so strong). I don't preach but they all know where my strength is, comes from. It's funny that I get the phone calls that are looking for support and comfort and strength. I do not know where each sibling stands as far as faith is in their lives. They prefer to keep it to themselves. So to answer the question: ''how am I letting them know about Christ?'', by my actions. They never waver even in the midst of a volitile trial (of which there have been many within my family in the last few years). I stand strong in and through Jesus Christ.
I quit smoking 10 months ago. I was asked by one sibling why, why did I quit? I simply said, ''I did it for my faith, I did it for Jesus''. Did I get any feedback on that one? Nope. If it had been the other way round, I would have taken that statement further and asked to expand.

Kanji, do you know what? I think God has given you the strength to be there for all your family who seem to only think about themselves. God is using you, I believe to show them by your actions that He is in you and no matter how they treat you, you would not do anything that goes against God. I believe you will soon see a good harvest, He is at work. God is your Rock, Guide and Redeemer so continue to keep the faith for He will never, ever not be there for you. We love you and thank you for the person you are and may God continue to bless you richly and may He always be your Shield. Thanks for sharing today.

I do PRAY, to share with My' family, but no one contacts Me! I came from a family of 13 children.

Joan, thank you for your comments. May I just say that in the brief paragraph that I had written, it was just that--very brief. It does generalize in a nutshell my story. I appreciate the tenderness you have given me but may I just say that for whatever the reasons are that my family (siblings) is the way it is, it is the only family I have. My mother passed 4 years ago suddenly, and my dad, 7. Lost an older brother to addiction at age 38. That was 20 years ago. Things were never the same in my family after the death of my brother. I, too, sucumbed to addiction. I was, by the grace of God, given a second chance to 'make good'. I am clean and sober today (34 months)because of a transformation that happened in treatment. The Holy Spirit touched my shoulder and with that I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior. I said that if I could only help one person, one person....little did I know that there would be more than one and, you Joan, hit it right on the button when you said that 'God is using me'. I will continue to keep the faith and be ready.
Delilha, don't give up. Continue to share because one day you may open your front door and find all 13 standing there with arms reaching out.
God bless you all
