Oh, to know God

| | Comments (2)

Today's reading, Hosea 6, moved me. I loved the candid manner in which God's love for us is laid out. Verse 6 was particularly powerful "For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings." God is telling us that more than anything He wants us to know and love Him.

So what does "knowing" God look like for you? Is there something you can do to get to know Him even better? Tami W.

For me, slowing down and taking time to really observe, sitting back and watching God at work, in nature and in people, is helpful in getting to know God. In Psalm 46:10, God tells us to "be still and know that I am God." Sometimes if there's any doing to be done, it's to simply be.

Knowing God for me is just looking at the world around me. People, plants, animals and various other things of nature, the sun, moon, stars at night in the heavens are all reminders for me that God exists...and created us and everything! There's lots of times and circumstances that can make me doubt...but all I have to do is just relax and look at all these things and it brings me right back home to believing in the Almighty creator!
