Christmas in Micah?

Micah 5

I thought reading Micah 5 was fitting today since we are so close to Christmas. It's definitely not where you'd expect to find information on Jesus and Christmas, but it's there in verses 1-5a which ends with "And he shall be their peace." Did you know that verse 2 actually tells us the exact location of Jesus birth--Bethlehem Ephrathah?

Read Micah 5:1-5a one more time. Where do you see Jesus? Did you learn anything new about Him? Tami W.

Tami,
I am so thankful that Jesus is my peace. In the craziness of everyday life, it is good to be reminded that our peace doesn't come from something or some feeling but someone, Jesus. I am so glad we are doing this study this time of year. What a great reminder that God is always in control, and can never be taken by surprise.

I like the part in verse 4:
4 He will stand and shepherd his flock
in the strength of the LORD,
in the majesty of the name of the LORD his God.
And they will live securely, for then his greatness
will reach to the ends of the earth.

The whole shepherd part of the Christmas story is brought in here. Jesus is the Shepherd of the Earth and of Judah. The shepherds were told of his birth by the angels. In the end Jesus will stand "in the strength of the Lord and in the majesty of the name of the LORD." That part made me stop still for a minute, even though I'm reading this in one of my high school classes as they write a test.
