And you thought it was hard....The second part of our reading today is where Jesus stays in Jerusalem after the Passover without the knowledge of his parents. When Mary and Joseph finally find Jesus, He is in the Temple dialoguing with the teachers. There is a conversation between Jesus and his parents and then they all return to Nazareth together. Verse 51 tells us that Jesus "went down with them [Mary and Joseph] and came to Nazareth and was submissive to them."

The last part of this verse grabbed me--the part about Jesus being submissive. I thought about that for a few minutes. At this young age, Jesus clearly knows he is the Son of God. We see that in verse 49 "'Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?'" Yet, Jesus doesn't pull rank. He willingly submits to the will of his parents. Simply put, he was obedient.

So if Jesus (the Son of God--just in case you forgot) was obedient to his earthly parents, what does that say about how we should respond to God's call, whatever that may be? Think it over and send me your thoughts! Tami W.

Good morning, Tami!!

Talking about obedience reminds me of: 2J-6 & Acts 5:29 (some of the few verses about obeying HIM)

Thank you for ALL the work you do, nourishing everybody with HIS WORD in a daily basics.

God bless you,
Isabel

Good morning Tami and all P4 readers from kingston Jamaica. I enjoy reading the word of God and Tami i am glad u obeyed God with regards to P4 because it really get me interested in the words of God more. I shared with my daughter from the book of Psalms 127 v3 which speaks about "children being a gift from the Lord and that they are a real blessing (good news translation). It tells me that we belong to God first and that he gave us to our parents as gifts so we must be obedient to him in whatever he ask of us to do. He only wants what is best for us . Even though we probably find it difficult to do everything he ask of us we should seek to ask him to help us to be submissive to him in all things. I like v52 which speaks of Jesus "increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man". A good example for us to take time growing in God which i must confess i am learning to do.God bless you all, have a great day.
