Not the complete picture

Luke 19:28-48

If someone were to ask you to describe God, what would you say? When I thought about that question today here's what I came up with: powerful, mighty, loving, all knowing, in control, forgiving, sinless, just to name a few. What didn't come to mind was what we see in Luke 19:41. Here is the Son of God (who shares the same characteristics as the Father) grieving and weeping for Jerusalem.

God's character is rich. So how can we get a more complete picture of who God really is? Tami W.

By examining our lives and finding out who God is to you personally, then describing him to yourself and that is who he is to everybody else....Jehovah in every form we can call on..Thank you Jesus for always being every thing to me....

We should look at our lives as far back as possible and see how God has blessed us, our families and our friends and the whole world and give Him thanks and praise for He is loving and caring (as no one else has been). He is kind, compassionate, merciful, slow to chide but quick to bless. We must remember at all times what He has done for us by giving up His life for us, He who has never sinned so that we can have salvation. He is always there for us. He wants all of us to be with Him and that is why He has provided His Inspired Word for us to learn about Him and get to really know Him. He represents goodness and wants the best for us. So let's continue to be in His Word and to thank Him for every small and big thing. Let us also pray that He will strengthen us to be a beacon for others giving Him the glory.

Great reminder that we were made in His image so of course he would have emotions like sadness and disappointment like we do...

I have a list of all the names of God like Jehovah Jirah "our provider." This gives us a taste of the character of God.

Tami, this is 2:52AM of 19th NOV in Nigeria, i just want to be part of this.To me GOD IS ALL IN ALL.Can you qualify or quantify HIM enough. No one, for i believe and know that HE makes HIMSELF known to people in different ways.HE chooses to be anything, many things and everything to us, and as such HE is all we can ever think to call HIM.THE OMNISCIENCE,OMNIPRESENT,OMNIPOTENT,KING OF KING,LORD OF LORD,JEHOVAH JIREH,JEHOVAH NISSI,ALPHA AND OMEGA,ALMIGHTY,THE I AM.My tribe (the Yoruba's in the western region of Nigeria has many names to qualify HIM,which i will like to share few with you.)ELEDUMARE -KABIESI -HE LORDS AND NO ONE QUESTION HIM,OLOWOGBOGBORO -HE HAS LONG ARMS, ERUJEJE LETI OKUN PUPA -HE IS THE MIGHTY ONE AT THE RED SEA,EKUN OKO FARAO - THE LION, HUSBAND OF PHARAOH.ETC.THE HUSBAND OF WIDOWS AND FATHER OF THE FATHERLESS.There are many ways to name HIM,it's innumerable, you see that, HE IS ALL IN ALL.

Reading this verse after Tami's response to it, really made me think. Having spent most of my earthly life without choosing to believe in Jesus, it is now easy for me to see the times he wept for me. Looking back there were so many miracles that He was working for me. How He must have wept when I turned away. But, now I feel His strength and His arms around me. He must be joyful. I certainly am. Praise the the Lord God, Praise Jesus!

Reading these comments about God and his character brings me to tears because he is truly an awesome God. There is none like him, he is worthy of all our praises. Thinking about the times when i fail him he remains faithful , loving ,kind, always interested in everything that concerns me. There were times i wonder about God and his existence, especially when things are happening in my life and i cant see him or hear him, but when i think back to where he has taken me from and how he save me and gives me hope in spending eternity with him , HE IS TRULY AWESOME, WONDERFUL, LOVING, FORGIVING, HOLY, EXALTED ABOVE ALL, KIND, WORTHY TO BE PRAISED, WORTHY TO BE GLORIFY, WORTHY TO BE EXALTED, HE IS GOD ALONE!
