Move over Thomas!

Luke 24: 36-53

We always hear about doubting Thomas--like the rest of Jesus' followers were so strong and right there for Jesus, but...Thomas?...well. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Thomas gets a bad wrap. So as I read Luke 24:36-43 today, I smiled because it's pretty clear Thomas wasn't the only doubter. In fact, this passage indicates that everyone present had doubts.

So what does this passage show us about having doubt as we follow Christ? How about some discussion on overcoming or working through doubts when they come our way? Tami W.

Yes, the doubts come from time to time, and as a bit of a skeptic, I must stop and think. But when I examine them in the light of both natural revelation and the Word, it becomes clear that they are coming from my own selfish need to be catered to -- sort of a Job thing. Apologetics helps me with the logical side and Psalms helps me with the emotional side. And after all, "..to whom shall we go?"

Yes,Tami, Thomas was not the only doubter, but all the disciples. What about we believers of today, after all what we heard and read in the word of GOD,should we still doubt. I am guilty as many too are not innocent of this fact. When doubts comes our way,we should be strong in the LORD and boldly uses the word of GOD as our shield. You take your stand in GOD. HE will never fail and will always bring to pass everything we ask or think. Focus on HIM who has started a good work,HE will complete it.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, it seems to me that the more we can spend time in the Word and focus on Jesus that helps. I, too, can be a bit of a skeptic. However, we must also remember that God works in His time, and He will take care of our needs in the way that's best for us. Only He knows what's best for us. We shouldn't doubt that God can do it, we should rest in Him. We need to remember that He will take care of us because He is our Heavenly Father.

I think being the humans we are - doubting is a process we all deal with. However, reading , studying and acting upon his word will ease our doubts. I think the doubting will subside as faith grows stronger and bigger..
We are living in world where everything is done in an instance. We want to rush the process. The process is what makes us stronger followers of Christ. It is at His own time that we will deliver us from whatever we are battling with.
