Psalm 68:1-18
God provides for the needy--that's you and me by the way. I was feeling a little blue as I came down to breakfast this morning. No real reason that I can put my finger on, just kind of lack luster. Do you ever get that way? Anyway, as I ate my standard breakfast of peanut butter toast and fruit, I opened my Bible to Psalm 68 to start preparing for my blog. By the time I got down to verse 6 and then verse 10, I was smiling and thinking God, You are so good. You see, I needed a reminder, a kick start if you will, to get me back on track this morning. And it's pretty cool how our assigned reading "just happened" to be what I needed.
So how did God meet you through Psalm 68 today? Did any particular verse or thought give you a little kick start? Tami W.

God(M) settles the solitary in a home.....
this verse hit me particularly...when i was a teenager, I had already lived through quite a life (alcoholic single mom, etc), and at 13 I left home. I spent the next 5 years doing too much to list here, but all with an underlying desire....to have a home. God found me when I didn't think I could be found anymore and gave me my best friend and husband Dave when I was 18 fresh out of living in a car. He then proceeded to give us 3 children. Our house situation (meaning the box you put your stuff in) has changed over the years, but God answered my most innermost desire in ways I could never have begun to request. He gave me a home....in my heart. I am very grateful and never cease to be amazed. We have been together for 22 years now and the kiddos are all teens (which makes for interesting times LOL), and I am always thankful to run across a scripture like this that reminds me of where I have been...because I know that means that no matter what things look like, God hears my innermost desires and can take what looks like nothing and make it amazing!
amen :)
I love this Psalm 68. "May God arise, may His enemies be scattered"(verse 1/NIV). But the two verses that always speak to me the loudest are verses 19-20/NIV that say:
"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens; Our God is a God who saves; from the Soveriegn Lord comes escape from death." The NKJV states verse 19b something like this: "...Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with His benefits". How many of us have discovered this God who "loads us daily with benefits?" You see there is so much we have yet to learn about who Jesus Christ really is.
Dispite the struggles (and we all have them), I'm looking for more of His blessings each day.
I thought it might be nice to spend some time with a couple of my boys reading this Psalm and working through some questions so we just did that. This is kind of nice! I think that the verses that speak of God's protection comfort me, but mainly anything that speaks of exultation and joy. 'Jubilant with joy' is a state that I should spend more time in! I ran into someone yesterday who thought I was looking a little different, but could not quite find the right word for it. I suggested that 'joy' was probably it. Joy at living, joy at being a father, joy at being provided for and joy in general. God bless you!
Jennifer, thank you for sharing your wonderful story!
I know it will touch many hearts.
Blessings.
