Luke 10:38-42 and John 11:17-37
Responding like Martha can be a good thing. Today, we're focusing on the positive Martha. She gets a bad rap with the whole worry thing (see Luke 10:38). John 11:17-27 shows us that worry and anxiety were not drivers for Martha. Those things just show she was human.
As we get to this passage in Luke, Lazarus has died and Martha, family and friends are in the mourning process. Jesus arrives and a dialogue between Jesus and Martha follows that is simple, but powerful. Martha's words and actions are revealing. She's not despondent or depressed. Instead, we see confidence, trust and hope in Jesus.
Reading this passage made me think about my mom dying just 2 months ago and losing my dad 10 years ago--both situations were really tough but Christ was my anchor. He alone gave me the hope to work through those sad, difficult times--just like Martha.
So whatever you're experiencing today--death, debt, divorce, loneliness (you filll in the blank) I encourage you to hold fast to God and the hope only He provides. Tami W.
P.S. Can we pray for you? Send us your prayer request and we'll take it to the Lord with you.

Thank you for today's passage. When we got to verse 41 of Luke 10
I inserted my name in place of Martha's and it was as if Jesus was speaking to me.
In verse 42:"But one thing is needed",reminded me to keep going back to the Word of God,to seek His kingdom first and leave all else to Him.
My husband and I are in debt.
We are learning God's way of handling finances, but it is a struggle,it seems insurmountable at times.
We would greatly appreciate your prayers.
Thank you for Powered by 4
May God continue to bless you and your program.

Thanks Tami, for asking for prayer requests. Just this morning I received a request from a friend requesting prayers of healing for a young man in the Island of St. Vincent. His name is Maurice John Jnr. He is a servant of Jesus and so my request today is for him. Tami you are always in my prayers and thank you for the wonderful work you do at BTTB.
I will also pray for you Diane L and your husband. Do not focus on the debt, just Focus on Jesus. He will do the rest. Love and hugs
Joan
Tami, what a great idea to unite us bloggers in prayer.
I pray that God will guide everyone reading this blog in putting their prayer requests into words.
Please pray for my health, for strength, so I may stay strong in God's word to fight temptation.
Heavenly Father, You are intimately aware of the struggles we are experiencing. You know the desire of our hearts to be free of these struggles. We ask now for Your healing touch. We know that You are able and that just like in Bible times, You can heal us.
We also understand that You will choose what is best for us. I pray that through these trials, we will draw close to You, that You will be our comfort and strength. I pray that ultimately, whatever happens, You will be glorified through us. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
