Esther 4:1-5:8

Esther wasn't perfect. She missed the mark--at least initially. I was kind of relieved to see in Esther 4:1-5:8 that even though Esther is one of those "amazing" women in the Bible, she wasn't flawless. When Mordecai's request for Esther to go before the king and plead for the Jewish people reaches Esther, did you notice how "human" her reaction was? Her first concern is her and how she could lose her life if she approached the king uninvited. But then, after some wise words and a little prompting from Mordecai, that "amazing" part of Esther shows up and she shines.

So here are a couple of things to think about today. First, how important is it for us to have a Christian support system (friends and/or family)? And second, what does Esther's falter in her initial response tell us about us? And, what should we do when we don't respond "perfectly"? Tami W.

I think a Christian support system is vital to us in growing as a Christian. We can never know enough! Try this, ask your Christian family and friends an important question, then ask your non Christian family and friends (if any) the same question. Sometimes in life I respond like a "Non-Christian" but instead of feeling bad or letting guilt set in I chalk it up to another learning lesson.
Have a great day!

Indeed we do need our Christian friends. I love Linda's comment about asking Christian and then non-christian friends to give you their perspective on a issue. Their perspective is very different.
As far as carring on when we make a mistake, we seek out our Christian friends for support, acknowledge we have made a mistake and carry on with God's help.

Wow, Linda! That would be an interesting comparison to make; I never thought of that before but the difference in perspectives (hopefully) would be obvious. I agree the importance of Christian networking helps us attain a better, Godly perspective. When we find ourselves failing, we should thank God for His grace in convicting us, pray contritely and then strive to make the right choice thereafter.

I just want everyone to know that even though I don't reply or comment every day... I do read each daily entry. I look forward to many more of Tami's blog and everyone's comments!!!
