Revelation 4

Bizarre, unimaginable, maybe a scene from a sci-fi movie? Those are some of the thoughts that were going through my mind as I read Revelation 4. The descriptions are so different than what we know and have experienced here on earth. I found it fascinating, though, because of the information it provided and because it gave me a glimpse of some things that are not of this world but will be part of my future as a Christ-follower.

Now information is great. But typically God's Word provides more than just information if I'm tuned in. So once I took in and processed the information I found in Revelation 4, this chapter gave me quite a bit more to think about for my life in the here and now. Was that your experience as well? Take a couple of minutes and read Revelation 4 through one more time. What can we take, learn, consider or maybe put into practice based on these verses? Any new perspectives or thoughts? Tami W.

When I first read Revelations, years ago, I thought God made a mistake. Revelation 6-8 was something I couldn't wrapped my mind around but as I learn more about God, I'm learning everything has purpose whether I understand it or not.

What a beautiful description of Heaven in this reading!
I feel that my message in reading Reveleation 4 is that I do not give enough glory and honor and thanks to God. We become busy or side tracked with life and this reading made me realize to stop and recognize how truly magnificent our Lord is and not just on a daily basis.
Enjoy your day .... Linda

Dear Tami,
This is not a new perspective but reading Revelation makes me see even more how much God loves us that He made this revelation of what is and what is to come and He chose John, the disciple He loved, the disciple He asked to take care of Mary, His Mother.

Revelation tells me that God would like everyone to believe and Trust in Him. To obey His Word. In my opinion He is showing us who Jesus really is and how worthy He is of praise. He does not force us, He gives us choices. I used to be scared of reading Revelation so thanks to God who has led me to BTTB so that I see the real picture. I thank God everyday for leading me to BTTB. I look forward to reading the Bible daily. May He continue to strengthen BTTB.

The first thing John hears is a voice that says come up here! It's a open door, and I've been led to believe that this is the Rapture! The scene in heaven is centered around the throne room of God and the Lamb. I think that is going to be so cool to worship with and along side these powerful creatures! We will need new bodies just to handle the major amperage. Talk about Hi-Tech! Chris

The imagery in the whole book of Revelations is so powerful. In fact, I get so wrapped up in trying to picture what John is describing that it is hard to concentrate on the messages within the chapter.

Several examples are how the one seated upon the throne looks like Jasper and Carnelian, a rainbow that had an appearance of an emerald, the "seven spirits of God," and the four living creatures "full of eyes in front and behind."

Honestly, the four creatures full of eyes kind of creep me out. However, I suppose that my reaction to them shows that there are many good things of God that I do not understand. This could be compared to God's plan. There is much about it that we do not understand, but it is the best for us and God, so we should do our best to follow it.

One more thing that I took away from this chapter was that this is a reminder of what we have to look foward to. We will be with our creator, our savior, and much goodness that we cannot yet perceive nor understand.

I am on question 5, What to you makes God worthy “to receive glory and honor and power”? I thought about all the correct answers, that He created all things, that He is the beginning and the end. But for me I am not sure. I became a Christian because I didn't want to go to Hell. I abide by the rules of God, so I won't displease God. I thank God when He blesses me in my life and pray and trust in Him to get me through the bad times. But if I remove all the aspects of me and only concentrate on God, why do I think He is worthy. Do I really love Him with my whole heart? More than I love my husband or children?
I think I may have found my problem with the way I seem to seesaw between God and the world. I have a lot to think and pray about.
