Jesus tells us, "I am the bread of life." That's what this passage is all about. If you take even a quick look at these verses, "bread" is by far one of the key words. For those of us who are Christians, Jesus is saying He is our bread of life. And did you notice in verse 27, Jesus urges the people to chase after "food that endures." There's definitely a theme here.
Okay, I'd love to get your thoughts on Jesus as your Bread of Life. Think about it. Send me a blog. Tami W.

Hi Tami,
This is what my Study Bible says about the Bread of Life.
Jesus contrasted Himself with the manna that came down form heaven in the time of Moses.
The manna provided temporary miraculous sustenance for the people, as Jesus had just done by feeding filve thousand people. But physical sustenance is not what peolpe ultimately need. It youeat bread today, you will need it again tomorrow.
Jesus, as the Bread of Life, would fill their spiritual hunger eternally.
When God revealed Himself to Moses, He identified Himself as the "I AM." Now Jesus said, "I AM the bread of life."
I agree in everything was written Jesus is our true Bread of Life, we do find that we need spiritual bread everyday to go on in our daily life while we awaits the return of Christ.
I'm not surprised that no one is commenting on this reading, really! It's a hard one. Hard to wrap your head around!
But thinking through where the people were coming from is helping me a little. They all wanted more of the immediate need...the physical bread. I'm so like that. Sometimes it's just really hard for me to look deeper into my soul needs. But that's what Jesus does. That's what He wants to be - the bread for my soul. And that's not something I can get to very quickly. I'm just not that kind of person, not very introspective, really. I'm usually rushing.
So it's hard for me when Jesus wants to go deeper as my sustenance. It means I have to drop my focus on the here and now and turn it to Him. I have to depend on Him for EVERYTHING! And so, today, it means depending on Him to give me the creativity I need at work, the patience I need with broken plumbing in my house, and the fear I have letting my youngest go off to a week of camp. Jesus...You are my bread today! Stop me long enough to find you, okay?
A lot of us want to follow Jesus for are physical needs to be met. But the Bread of life is not just for are hunger for the physical as the one in these passages after having there physical hunger met by the loafs not that He don't what to met are needs Jesus whats us to go after the Bread of Life which is in Him that gives eternal life. This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it is granted him by the Father.” this statement from Jesus tells me that God is in control and that as we pray for are loved one to be save that the Spirit of God would draw them to Him. MAY God Bless this ministry
I also to add to what has already been said. I believe Jesus lets us know that He is life for us bread as a necessary need feeds us and keeps us substained. Jesus substains us and give life to us, whereas we would without him have no life. We have, these of us who has believe and received the gift and testimony that God the Father has given us of his Son have this life substaining bread (we have a forever existence with the Fathe) Daily we feed on jesus and he supplies our needs as bread supplies nuitrition and strength.
