It's more valuable than rubies, and it's important to God. Do you possess it? Proverbs 8:1-21 is all about wisdom. In fact, it lays out kind of like a mini message on it. So I have two questions for you today. First, did you learn anything new about wisdom as you read Proverbs 8:1-21? And second, based on this passage, how important is it for us to possess wisdom as a Christian? Have fun thinking!! Tami W.

Yes I did learn many new things about wisdom.
Right from the start It says she cries out,(vs2)she takes her stand on top of the high hill, beside the way, where the paths meet.

(VS3) She cries out by the gates,at the entry of the city,At the entrance of doors.

This tells me that wisdom is not hiding from us.This is wonderful!
She is out in plain view.

How important is it for us to possess wisdom as christians? With wisdom we gain so many things. Understanding, prudence, knowledge, discretion, counsel, sound wisdom.

If we used these things in our lives each day how different out walk would be.

This passage gives me hope knowing that if I seek her dilligently I will find her.

It gives me something to strive for.

I did not necessarily learn something new about wisdom, but I will say that this passage of scripture beckons for us to pursue it. I am in agreement with the value that these verses place on wisdom. I can honestly say that I would rather have it over any material thing. After reading this passage I immediately asked to receive the Spirit of wisdom and that my treasuries (store rooms in the spirit) would be filled by it, the verse that stuck out most to me was, "The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil and perverted speech I hate." In my experience, it takes the power of God to mature us enough in the spirit where we can really separate the hatred of evil from the hatred of people who DO evil. We are not to hate the people who are bound by evil, we are to hate the works of the enemy which are all birthed in a hidden and unseen place.
We need WISDOM to help us understand and discern the truth. The scripture tells us that satan masquerades as an angel of light. Without wisdom from the Spirit of God, we will be deceived by what LOOKS "right" and not be able to take an appropriate stand for righteousness IN THE SPIRIT. Our battle is not against flesh and blood. A confrontation between wickedness and righteousness is not a battle between people who do evil and people who do good. It is a battle that is to be engaged in in prayer and we need wisdom in order to pray the strategies of heaven and use our weapons that are mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds. Wisdom will take us into a deeper place of intimacy with Jesus, where we will begin to see as He sees and feel as He feels. At that point we will not be able to help but enter an appropriate intercession.
Wisdom is a key to the children of God bringing forth the Kingdom of God. Wisdom will first deal with our own hearts and mouths and what proceeds out of them. Then wisdom will promote us to a higher place of authority (in the spirit) where we can begin to advance against the darkness.
These are the thoughts provoked for me today by this passage of scripture. Thanks :-)

sometimes i know i need to be remind where my protieties are. its nice to be remind that wisdom is more important than stuff. i think we need knowledge for our own growth. just to handle problems we face as chritians. i know i need all the help i can get.
