Psalm 119:25-48
Are you asking God for enough help? As I read Psalm 119:25-48, I couldn't help but notice how the Psalmist asks several times for God to help or assist him in understanding and applying His Word. (verse 26 "teach me your statutes;" verse 27 "Make me understand the way of your precepts;" verse 34 "give me understanding").
People say the Bible is too hard to understand. Maybe that's because we're trying to read it from our own understanding and strength. Yes? No? What do you think?
Tami W.

I think people make the excuse that the Bible is hard to understand because they don't want to accept what it says. If you do not believe in an All-Powerful, All-Knowing God you will be resistant to what His Word proclaims. A veil will be drawn over your eyes. People see Man as preeminent - not God. Thus they cannot begin to accept the basic premise of the Word.
At the moment a person realizes his complete his existence is owed to the Creator a light goes off and suddenly the Bible makes sense. It is not the Bible that is hard to understand rather it is the eyes of the beholder which must opened for it to be understood.
I believe most people don't read the bible because of 2 reasons; 1 -Most people do not like being told what it is they can and can not do. Some feel they should have an option. Many believe they have a mind of their own and that they are capable of making wise decisions without having to depend on a "book" for their answers. However, they are a bit confused. The Bible can assist in "helping" you make decisions that are in your best interest. As humans, we do make decisions in our lives, daily, and though we try to make the best decisions, we tend to fall prey to our "surroundings" or "the land", and their decisions are not always best. Most bibles come with an index that allows you to look up what it is you are feeling, (i.e. "faith", "Greed", "Lust"), and they supply you with the scriptures you'll be able to read, to help you understand GOD'S purpose for his children. And though it can get difficult, in his word he wants us to know, if we have faith in him and trust in him, he will show us miracles beyond our imagination and fill our soul with joy.
The other reason why some people don't like to read the Bible is because they do not understand it, and that is due in part to the fact that, a lot of people quote the Bible, however, they don't quote the Bible the way it was written. Those who quote the bible tend to confuse 1st time readers, because of their true lack of knowledge to God’s word. Some may quote from a story in the Bible, or a prayer in the bible, and though they may mean well, if certain scriptures “quoted” are not used in their correct context, someone who goes to the Bible for that “scripture” can get confused by its true meaning. Thus, they can become confused and uninterested in reading God’s word. Bible study and discussion classes can help. Asking questions and further reading can also assist in getting a better understanding of God’s word and how it can benefit your daily life.
I agree. We always try and try to do things in our own power and we are always seeking answers from the "world" instead of letting go and letting God. This speaks to my heart a lot today. It is so easy to get caught up in all the hussle and bussle of todays society to stay connected to each other and stay up on all the hype. This reminds me to slow down and ask God for help. I think that's something that we should protray as Christians, that we really don't know what in the world is going on but we do KNOW we can trust our Lord through it all and only through Him are we ever going to understand why things happen the way they do. You can read a verse in the Bible a thousand times but then one day, all of a sudden, it has new meaning to you and when that happens you know that the Lord helped you in your understanding. I don't know about everyone else but I love that!
Have a great weekend, and Happy Mother's Day to all you mommies out there!
Peace, Love, and God Bless,

God has been really faithful to answer when my prayer is "God, please show me something about you as I read. Help me understand your Word." Once, when I was really stuck, He led me into a conversation that very day that clarified the exact passage I had been reading! What a cool God.
Plus, the more I study the Bible, the more I understand how it all fits together and that is sooo amazing.
Hey Tami!
I agree, I think that we do not ask God for enough understanding. Paul prayed for the Ephesians that their eyes may be opened and that they would receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation (Eph 1:17-19)
I think that we approach the Bible like it's any other book, when it is a supernatural book that is living and active. We definitely need that spirit of revelation and wisdom to understand and thankfully God amply provides that to us as believers.

Hi Tami,
I agree with you, and when listening over and over while working in my yard Saturday to Dr Kroll teaching about prayer. I found that I got better understanding, especially in these few exerts…from Last week.
"As soon as he heard it," it says, "he tore his clothes and covered himself with sackcloth and went into the house of the LORD. 2 Kings 19:15. It says, "And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord, and said: 'O Lord the God of Israel, who is enthroned above the cherubim, you are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth."
So, Hezekiah quickly goes right into the house of the Lord and he starts to pray. But isn't it interesting that in his prayer he doesn't start with his need; he starts with his God.
We learn it is praisefully reverent. He talks about the character of God before he talks his own need.
Then ….… verse 16 of 2 Kings 19 and the great prayer of Hezekiah says, " Incline your ear, O Lord, and hear; open your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to mock the living God.'"…………
Here's a lesson I want you to know: When you pray to God, don't hold back. Tell Him exactly what's on your heart because while He may already know what's on your heart, it's good for you to let Him know that you know as well.
You, and Dr. Kroll, with the Back to The Bible Team are a true blessing.
