Psalm 119:1-24

I was blown away today (Friday) with Psalm 119:1-24. I've read this Psalm a bunch, but as I read it this morning I couldn't believe how many times these first 24 verses mentioned God's Word. Take another look. In the first 8 verses alone we see God's law, his testimonies, his ways, precepts, statutes, commandments and righteous rules. So what that tells me (in addition to what the text is actually saying) is that God's Word is vital and should be foundational for everything we do and are. Do you agree?

I decided to pray a little part of Psalm 119 for my Friday. Here it is. It's verse 10."With my whole heart I seek you; let me not wander from your commandments!" Did you find a verse that spoke to you? Which one and why? Tami W.

Hello! This is Jessica. Do I have a story! I am a soon to be college graduate and I just recently re-committed or re-dedicated my life to Christ again back in November of 2008. I went to praisefellowship on campus and the youth minister there said that there was a spiritual famine going around all over the world and to not be a lukewarm Christian. It really got me thinking. I had signed up for Back to the Bible's scripture readings early on in the semester but I have not been diligent in getting up in the morning to read. Well this morning at 6:00 I woke up and the Holy Spirit would not let me go back to sleep, and I get online and today's message was Psalm 199: the benefits of being in God's word. It was like one of those V8 commercials where the person gets slapped upside their head for not eating all their vegetables. Oh goodness! Well to make this short LOL, the verse that really spoke to me was Psalm 119:2- Blessed are they who keep his statues and seek him with all their heart. Now that is what I'm doing (seeking God) and I can say I've had one of THE best days of my life!

Hi Tami

Reading these verses I believe that David wanted to focus on obeying the commandments and ordinances found in the Torah.

I believe that the church is in a time written in Ezekiel 11:19 that states "I will put a new spirit within them, and take out the stony heart out of there flesh, and give them a new heart of flesh."

While I believe that reading and meditating on the word of God is very important, I believe that praying in the spirit of God on a regular basis is more foundational to our daily walk with the Lord. That belief was made even more clear on this week's Back to the Bible program.

Eph 2:15 states "having abolished in the flesh the enmity, even the law of the commandments contained in the ordinances."

This verse and previous verses not only describe the bringing of Gentiles and Jews under one body, but also that we are no longer bound by the laws of the OT because of Jesus's sacrifice on the cross.

Good morning Tami,
The following Two stand out to me. To improve my serve is the reason , I truly desire......
5 …. that my ways may be steadfast in keeping your statutes! And 11 My soul is consumed with longing for your rules at all times.
The Word is Powerful; there is no doubt about that. Psalm 119 is truly emphasizing this, and I am thankful that you used it today.
