Matthew 6:7-15
We learn it as children, sing it to music and recite it at various church functions. What am I talking about? The Lord's Prayer found in Matthew 6. So have you read it, said it or thought about it lately? This is such a familiar passage that there's a real danger that we'll just skim over it and never really consider or understand how powerful Jesus' words and his example are for us.
So has the Lord's Prayer played a part in your past? Read it again. What does it mean now? Tami W.

Tami;
I love the Lord's prayer. It is peaceful, comforting, and yet very powerful. It covers everything...giving praise to our Father, asking for protection, asking for our daily needs to met and lastly, but very important asking for His will to be done.
It is when we seek and desire His will in our life's His peace fills us; which, passeth all understanding. There have been so many times in my life when I have finally come to this point and surrender my will to His, it honestly past all understanding. In other words, I could not put into words the peace He gave.
In short the Lord's prayer should be our daily prayer. Thank you for reminding me.
Blessings to all in Christ.
Thank you Tami,
In my Pre Christ past I didn't even know what it was. I didn't even know how to pray.
God is still working on me and I am thankful.
In my recent past is the same as today.
This is What comes to mind, as I read now.
This is the Day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.
I Praise the Lord God almighty, My father, my friend , my everything, Hollowed be your name ( to me is To make or set apart as holy, To respect or honor greatly; revere.) I look in expectation of your kingdom coming. May your will be done here in my life, through me and through out your church which you are building here, as in heaven. Give us today Lord every thing we need for this day, and help us to understand what you have given.
Forgive us Lord, for every thought, action, or deed that we have had that is not pleasing to you, as we have forgiven each one that had thoughts, deeds, or action against us. Lead me not into temptation and help me not to be enticed by the evil one, and deliver me from all evil.
Glory be to God forevermore!
Good Morning All!
I'm a day late with this...
But, just wanted to comment that 'Yes! It is so easy to just rush right through this prayer.' What I have come to do when I do pray this prayer is personalize it. And, I purposely pray it slowly. Speak it to God. My big problem is that I always get hung up near the end - verse 12 - as I think and remember who I may not have forgiven, or may be harboring ill thoughts about. My thoughts go off on tangents, and I leave the Lord's presence. Suddenly, I remember that I left the Lord 'sitting on the bench,' waiting for me to finish fellowshipping with Him!
The other 'part that this prayer has played' in my life is showing me the 'steps' of how to approach prayer. Praise, thanks, humility, requests, praise....
Tami, thank you for offering this venue to express, think, learn & share :)
