Titus 3

Yesterday (Saturday) we talked about being zealous for good works. Today (Sunday) we see some more on good works. Titus 3:1 instructs us to be "ready for every good work" and Titus 3:8 says we should be "careful to devote ourselves to good work." It's pretty clear that doing good works as a follower of Christ is important. So once we're ready and devoted, how do we stay that way week after week, month after month or year after year? Tami W.

Tami , for me staying devoted week after week is a struggle especially with the people I am in contact with on a regular basis, i.e. my wife and kids, my fellow co workers. The key that has worked for me is to do the little things without saying a word or seeking praise or recognition- like taking out the trash when it is full- not telling my son to do it even thou it his responsibility. Or at work cleaning up someone elses mess without complaining about who left it there. Just old time common courtesy is a good witness these days. You wouldn't believe the looks one gets when you open a door for someone, or allow them to go infront of you at the check-out line. I really get a joyful feeling when I can help a mom with young children at a store. I drive a delivery truck delivering feed to ranches in western Nebraska and just watching a gate for them or helping a wife get hooked up to a horse trailer is a good witness, and these actions have been returned - like pulling me out when I get my truck stuck 20 miles from the nearest town where there is no cell phone signal.
to sum all this up "it is doing the little things that keeps me focused day after day - week after week- year after year.

Day after day for some of us! I turn my ear toward listening to BTTB and other teaching ministries during my commute to work. There is a good use for them as adults - just make the conscience effort to download the podcasts. Reading and dwelling on the Word daily to learn more about God with prayer and reverence of how meaningful our work is to eternity and to the lost in this world if we only share.

Today's message in my local church focused on Solomon's "mid-life" crisis described in Ecclesiastes. We all may not fall into a season in life where nothing we do seems to have meaning and we may grumble and look for greener pastures, but fearing God and obeying His commands helps us avoid those seasons.

Lost opportunities to live for the day versus living for eternal treasures; don't dwell on the "what ifs" in our world and focus on the Goal and who we can help lead there with us! 85 years in this world is only a "blink of the eye" versus sharing eternity with God.

We need to stay in touch with who we are and Who Jesus is. We do that by being in God's Word. This passage in Titus talks about justification through grace...Jesus great gift to us. That reminds me that I can share that "gift" with others by accomplishing the good works God has prepared for ME to DO! (Ephesians 2: 8-10)

Hello Tami,
Thank you so much, for P4, I feel a little emotional as I read the comments on this page from Bill, Atee2D, and Paula. And I can say the same regarding other comments from others. God uses each of us to help one another.
This is the best thing since sliced bread…… P4 I mean, enabling us to study in a time frame that works for us. Being there every day what a blessing, and it is good works. Consistently is very important to me. Staying after it every day, but not forgetting to take a break, which is important. Refreshing time, a time to recharge, allowing us to hear more clearly the voice of the Lord.
We need balance, I feel like a jugular that has to keep juggling while another person throws in different size objects for me to juggle. Life to me is like that, and I sometimes have to make choices of which ones I want to continue to juggle. With the Lord’s help I am able to juggle more and still enjoy life, as his word says in John 10:10. He gives us a more abundant life.
Thank you Jesus
