Guilty as charged! No one wants to hear that or about the punishment to follow, but that's pretty much the state of things in Micah 6:9-16. God lays out specific sins that disgust Him and then follows up His charges with some very specific judgments. Take a look at verses 10-12 (God's accusations) again and then look around at how things are today. Any thoughts? Concerns? Tami W.

Sometimes even Christians commit crimes for which there are laws and specific judgments. Even though God's grace and mercy are manifested so abundantly toward people, yet He is still holy and He does not give us the right to pardon crimes or circumvent the legal consequences of either our sins, or the sins of others. Here God is really telling His children that the consequences of their sin would result in public shame (hissing) and reproach. Though God forgives every kind of sin, yet that does not mean a believer might not have to suffer publicly here on earth because of sinful choices he/she has made. I am so thankful for the fact that I can be absolutely right with God (who sees my heart and cleanses when I confess) even when I am suffering through the consequences of my sin.
This is so true. We do commit sins and do suffer the consequences, but if we remain true to God and his word he will deliver us, comfort us and lead us through. Oh what a great God we serve.
Today's passage is serious because so many things we do .."white lies" and "small lies" here and there to the point that we all seem to "accept' these. The book of Micah reminds us that God is a God of justice and as my pastor will say, God will indeed forgive when we confess but we bear the consequences. It is also a call to us believers not to give any room to the enemy to come in no matter how enticing the situation may be. There are so many quick ways to get rich these days and some of them are questionable.
Once again, Carole, I agree with you! Well spoken! I could probably put my thoughts here but I am quite sure you have said everything that I would have, so I guess I will save everyone else the strain of further reading:-)
