Our reading today is Micah 5:1-6.

There's no debate. Bethlehem Ephrathah is the place. If you want to know the whereabouts of Jesus' birth, you're in the right place--Micah 5. You wouldn't expect it, but Micah does contain the most precise prophecy in the Bible relating to the birth of Christ. In fact, the first six verses are all about Jesus. Did you find any new information here? What picture of Jesus does Micah paint for us? Tami W.

Although I have read all the way through the Bible once, I haven't taken the time to really dive in and study just yet, so I am very thankful for this opportunity to do so with everyone. I love in this passage how it talks about the smallness and cultural insignificance of little Bethlehem (at least at that time). To me, it is so fitting then that the Messiah would be born there of all places, because it suggests a very humble beginning for Jesus's life on earth and His desire to take on a truly human form. And yet, despite His humble beginnings, He would become our Good Shepherd and Protector...the one and only that we would continue to follow for generations to come.

I love programming my tv for back to the Bible. Helps me start the day and get some solid teaching!
