Did you read Micah 2:6-13?
The tough stuff just keeps coming and nobody wants to hear it. We're finishing Micah chapter 2 and we see the people in denial, totally rejecting Micah's message of judgment--with an attitude. But Micah responds with this "If you would do what is right, you would find my words comforting."(vs.7) All I could think was, No kidding. That makes so much sense. It reminded me of when I was a kid and I'd do something wrong and then be ticked because I got disciplined. Well, if I had just obeyed in the first place...you get the picture.
So as you read your Bible and take part in Powered by 4, how are you finding, or in what way do you find, God's words comforting? And what about when we're reading hard stuff like this week in Micah? Tami W.

That's wonderful news, Carol. Thanks for sharing with all of us. Tami W.
Isn't it interesting that we often blame others when we are suffering because of our own sinful decisions? The consequences are much worse than we had anticipated, and, like Tami says, we are angry about the tough times, when they would have never happened if we had "walked uprightly." One of my children was upset when teachers in his school did not trust him, but I reminded him it was because he had disobeyed several rules during the semester! We want to go our own way, and then we get upset when the Lord sends a faithful believer to speak truth to us! Like Judah and Israel, we just don't want to hear it.
How much better to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God when He chastens us...waiting for Him to bring the truth to light and exalt us in due time.
I read this passage in Micah and get very concerned about the apathy I sense when it comes to Godly things. At least here in San Francisco, the rule is "whatever." Whatever "religion" you like because there are many paths that lead to happiness or heaven. Every time I hear that another state has approved "gay marriage rights" (for example) I just whisper a prayer to God that He will have mercy on us. I don't know. Is is just me that it bothers so much, or are other Christians bothered and concerned too?

Yes, we do need to pray daily for our leaders at all levels of government. We need to pray that the eyes of all people will be opened to see that the love of money is ruining our society. We need to love Jesus first and foremost and not wealth and material things.
