Morning, noon, night--what work best for you? For the longest time I would read my Bible in the evening. People would always tell me to try first thing in the morning but I resisted--heartily. I am NOT a morning person and I was just sure that reading in the morning would be awful. Well I was wrong. A couple years ago I decided to try reading at breakfast time because I was struggling to get my reading in at night. I was shocked because I absolutely loved it. So when I read Psalm 119:147 where it talks about rising before the dawn, it made me smile.
So I'm curious, what time of day or night works for you and your schedule? When do you meet with God? Tami W

I read first thing in the morning with my morning coffee...I used to read right before bed but sometimes I would end us falling alsleep before I could finish so now its first thing in the morning when its quiet in the house and everyone is alsleep. I feel God is with me longer during the day in the morning.
Have a nice day and God bless you!

I find the evening works best for me. Once home from work, having had dinner, I am relaxed and can fully concentrate on my reading.
I try to "meet with God" all day long. :-) But I know what you are referring to, so in answer to that, I usually take time to read my Bible after I've had time to wake up in the morning. That means I've had my eyes open & brain in gear for an hour or so. Before then nothing penetrates the "fog". LOL! I used to try to read first thing upon getting out of bed and I'd keep falling back asleep (and yes, I was out of bed LOL!) so I KNOW that doesn't work for me. Sometimes I read while I'm having my bowl of oatmeal (nourishing my body & soul at the same time). Sometimes after I've had my shower & am enjoying my one cup of coffee for the day. Sometimes, like today when I was required to pick up a family member at the airport at 8 a.m., which threw my whole routine off, reading gets done later in the day. I don't believe that everything goes smoother when I read my Bible early on in the day, but I do know that I have taken in spiritual food and God speaks thru His word, so regardless what the day brings, that's what matters.
I used to read my Bible every morning as I ate breakfast.
Now I read your e-mailed version whenever I look at my mail - every morning. And I too am NOT a morning person.
But it sets the direction for my day.
I really appreciate Powered by Four - I used to keep track of my reading with a chart from The Student Bible.
It's interesting to use a different plan - and I like the questions.
The Grace and Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you always.
I try diligently to do both. I read passages with my devotions in the morning, but also try to read at least one passage before turning the light out to sleep. I am not always faithful, but I do my very best to follow this routine. Sometimes I am too tired at night -- and BTW, I always feel very guilty !! I have at times been known to turn the light back on after 10 minutes in bed, and read even just one verse because I laid there in the dark feeling guilty and not being able to sleep !! Somehow though, I think this is good !! The point is to meet God, and when I feel too tired to meet God, I know that my priorities are out of whack. I love reading in the morning because it starts my day thinking of Him, and ALWAYS makes my day better and more ordered. If I skip that in the morning, I usually feel scattered and incomplete. May God Bless You all - Lisa
Good morning Tami,
I am up this morning reading P4 which i've been missing for days now.
I have to admit that I am not a morning person normally, but with the three small children here now, I find it peaceful to get up early before everyone else. A real quiet time. I like this quiet time I have found. I have the tendency to get right into the daily task at hand, not even having a real breakfast either. Taking time for myself needs to be a bigger priority for me. I Go Go Go all the time. Working too much, trying to get caught up and seemingly more work still comes my way.
I truly enjoy this time to reflect, study and learn.
May the Lord continue to bless you.

I find that morning works much better for me. My mind is much clearer and I am able to have a better understanding of what God is saying to me through His word. It helps me to start my day right and I find that it also helps me to get through the day better that if I had not read at all.
