Today's reading is Proverbs 3:1-12.

I frequently get asked if I have a life verse. I've never really selected one, so my answer is typically something non-committal. But as I read Proverbs 3 today (Friday) it dawned on me that I do have a handful of verses that are special to me. Proverbs 3:5-6 fall into that category. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your path." Whenever I start feeling anxious or my circumstances feel like they're getting out of control, these two verses are foundational for me. They just make so much sense, and they comfort me.

So do you have a particular verse or passage that you like to turn to? Or maybe you have a special verse you use to start each day. I'd love to hear about it and, of course, why it's meaningful to you. Tami W.

Hi Tami,

Ditto to your comment that Proverbs 3:5-6 is very helpful! In fact I think that pretty much the entire content of Proverbs 3 is comforting and helpful to me. I hope you and your family have a blessed and joyous Easter.

"I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." -Phillipians 4:13
This just says it ALL to me. With Him, I can do anything. Without Him - I am nothing. Today on Good Friday, I mourn and yet give thanks for He who gave himself up in order to be my strength.

Psalm 46:1,10
The Lord is my first and last hope.He is sovereign and will be lifted up. The Good News is we belong to Him. Thank you and Dr.Kroll for your ministry. This is the first time that I have ever commented online.
God Bless and
Happy Easter,

When I first became a follower of Christ (at age 34) I began to read the bible. Lean not on my own understanding? My understanding made sense to me at the time, but when I would look back I could see troubles and destruction. My way, my understanding was NOT working. My life showed clear evidence of that. Although Gods word was so different, and to do what He commanded, seemed so weird/odd, like "hows THAT gonna work!!" but in blind faith I did. Tithing was just one thing, but a very clear cut way to see His way is THE way. My faith has grown so much in the past 11 years. Now, when he disciplines me, I don't see myself as a victim of my circumstance, I see my Abba Father correcting me and re-aligning me with His will, His way, The Way. He loves us so much that He just can't take His eyes off of us.

God's counsel to Joshua goes great with the Proverbs passage. In Joshua 1:8-10, we can glean that where God is concerned, the only thing to fear is fear itself. God's counsel to us would be so similar, since God never changes. It might be paraphrased, "familiarize yourself with my Word, hold it in your heart and never be afraid for I am with you....so be bold!"

Good evening Tami,

I find that your comment very comforting and helped me in confirmation. My sister called today to tell me that as she was praying, the same kind of scriptures came to her for me. Also last night I felt a strong passion when teaching about trusting in the Lord and His word.. I am so thankful for the Lord Jesus working in my life, using others to make a difference in my life. Leaning not on my own understanding, trusting in the Lord and his word, and in all my ways acknowledge Him. For me this is very powerful. God is painting a masterpiece of each of us, and I believe God is putting a little more paint on the masterpiece that he is painting of me. He has given me another glimpse of what I could be if I stay focused on Jesus. I pray that my life will be different now. I need more of God in my life, and less of me.

Praise God as we Celebrate JESUS BEING ALIVE.

The Passage or Verse that I believe the Lord gave specifically for me Is John 15:16-17.
There are two that when I was having anxiety or bad dreams at night that I had memorized and would say over and over.1st John 4:4 and Acts 16:31

Years ago, when i became a Christian, i tried so hard to find "my life verse" for a long time. As i grew up in the word and faith, i found that, to me, the Lord gives me my "life verses" everyday. I am so in to His word the whole bible has become one long life verse.

Well Hello everyone I rededicated my life back to the lord in August 7,2009.Every since then i have been totally delivered from drugs, alcohol, cigarettes.I found a beautiful church home and entered a christian facility called Cornerstone Manor here in Buffalo,New York. The scriptures I quotes and read arePhillipians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.I know the joy and the word is my strength because if i didnt have a desire to walk with the lord I would,nt have come this far who he is and what he can show you in life if you surrender to him.My other scripture is Proverbs 3:5-6 I trust in the lord with all my heart and lean not to my own understanding and acknowledge Him in all thy ways and he will direct my path. The reason i love that scripture is because I let go and let god have his way in my life and surrender to Him more and more everday hes directing my path as we speak.
