Today (Monday) we're reading Luke 8:40-56. I was originally going to talk to you about the woman with the blood problem but then I changed my mind. Instead of me talking about what I got out of today's reading, how about you tell me a couple of things? Are you up for it? I know you are. Here goes. The two main characters in this passage are Jairus and the woman with the medical condition. They both had incredible encounters with Jesus. So how do you think those encounters changed their relationship with God? And do you think those encounters/experiences affected their relationship with other people and, if so, how?
Alright, think about my questions. Maybe you'll even need to go back and read the passage again with those questions in mind. Then, send me your response. Tami W.
P.S. This isn't a trick question or anything. There are no wrong answers. Just wanting to get you thinking. :)

The Lord I believe acted on both of their request because of faith. Jarius fell at Jesus feet....he was a ruler of the synagogue which tells me he knew much about the law, religion...get he recognized who Jesus was...he fell at his feet....you don't fall at anyones feet unless you know they can help you...he was asking for his daughters life...that tells you he knew Jesus could do something for her....the woman with the issue of blood acted in the same way...."just to touch the border of his garment"...she acted on faith...and I believe the reason Jesus reacted as he did, was because He was touched...His heart, His very soul was touched by her faith in Him...can we touch Gods heart...? smile...oh i do believe we can....thats when prayers are answered....both of them already had faith....now it would be a faith that was visible to others and a testimony......it is spoken of even now ....
Q1: There is hope in Christ Jesus. Healing not only brings peace but faith increases.Realization that their depence and ours is God.
Q2: Certianly will increase faith hope and trust in God . Knowledge of his sovergnity and faithfulness . His hands is not limited . That God is concern over us.
Today's lesson has increase my faith and hope that God will do his will in my life as long as I obey and pursue my love for him.
I think with the bleeding woman that her belief was only reinforced when she was healed. She went in knowing that Jesus was her last hope and if she could only touch the hem of his garment she would be healed. This encounter I think would make her an unbelievable witness to the power of Jesus Christ. I wish I was more like her.
I think it is very difficult myself to put a faith in God when I cannot see him, but yet I know that he is there, I know that he exists. There are too many things that prove that fact.
Hi Tami:
We have short memories and find it easy to forget what God has done. While what Jairus and the woman received were nothing short of miraculous, there were others throughout history who also received miracles which were equally miraculous. I think of the generation that God took out of Egypt. They saw and lived miracles on a daily basis and yet they were described as unbelieving.
Jairus and the woman differ in that they had faith and acted on it. As such their encounters with Jesus probably confirmed their faith and gave them new stories to tell others of their encounters with the living God. Had Jesus healed them in order to cause them to believe I don’t think that their lives would have experienced lasting change at all. But as they already had faith and acted on it their faith was likely strengthened.
As a father I must say that I find the story of Jairus very difficult. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very glad that Jesus healed his child. But what about all the other fathers who come to Jesus asking them to heal their children and the answer is no? I know, there are no answers to this.
Insurance Guy,
There is an answer. That answer is: someday, hopefully sooner than later and for all time rather than here and there, those of us who believe will fully understand God's immeasurable love for us. Everything He does and allows is for our good, our best...in spite of whether we see or comprehend...even when He says, "No." This life is but a wisp of smoke in the whole scheme of things...and there is a time to mourn. You are in my prayers tonight.
Hi, Tami. I do agree with the fact that Jesus held women in high es time as it should be. Yet all of His Miracles were for our benefit. He wanted to prove to us, then and now, that He was the Messiah and that He could do anything. The things that He did cannot be explained, so we must believe that He is the supernatural and the true Lord of Lords, and King of Kings. God Bless you and the ministry.
I am sure Darius whole life was dedicated to God. The women with the issue of blood I have thought a lot about. I would hope I would have been a women of such faith. Each day we should say "Lord, if I could just touch the hem of your garment" in your Word, in dealing with others and in my walk with Jesus Christ. That would sure make a difference.
Thank you Randy, Rebecca,Toni, and others for the encouraging comments; however, this reminds me of the cyco-motor seizures or spells that I have since a baby 9 months and if I ever have an episode I just leave it in the Lord hands or put a scripture in the mind. Always, a prayer of healing would be appreciated. Until then consider all trials as joy and just be happy. James 1:2
Great questions Tami!
Faith is absolutely essential without faith we can nothing. I also think there was humility. Jarius must humbly knelt before the Lord. The women humbly knew by just touching his garment she would be healed. Without their faith their humility would have been just that.
In faith we also must humble ourselves before our Lord, our Creator, our King!
some people stay sick nomatter how much they pray for physical healing, then learn the (my grace is sufficant for you) and realize the plan is bigger than you getting well physically. The Lord was busy fulfilling things that would prove His massiahship.(raising the dead, healing the sick ect...) I do belive people can get well, but more so I belive the Lord will do his will and we have to get alongside of Him, not push our own agenda.God bless...
