Well today we see a lot of action in our reading in 1 Samuel 25. We're introduced to Abigail, a very wise and discerning woman (you've got to love that ladies). Plus we learn about Nabal and, of course, more about David. As I read the account in 1 Samuel 25, I had to ask myself, did I identify with any of the key players? Well you guessed it. I sure did. In fact, I could recall quite a number of circumstances where I acted like David (responding rashly out of anger), like Nabal (acting selfishly and rudely to someone's acceptable request) and Abigail (responding quickly and wisely when others around me did not). Would that be your experience as well?
I asked in my video blog today if you've had an Abigail type person in your life. I still want to know that, but I'd also like to know if you've ever been an Abigail to someone else? Think about that a bit because now that it's after the fact, you might be surprised at what comes to light or what you remember. Or, just tell us how God used today's reading to maybe open your eyes to something in your life. (By the way, if you haven't watched it yet, check out my video blog. It's all about 1 Samuel 25 and the significance of Abigail and her actions.)
Gotta go. Keep reading and we'll talk again on Thursday. Tami W.

I love this story of Abigail...ah, to be a woman with the big picture in her mind and heart! God used her in a mighty way and God took care of the bad guy Nabal (I'm sure he was a treat to live with!) So often we try to take matters into our own hands only to find out that was not God's direction. I hope to be transformed by God into a woman like Abigail who can be used by God and who has the big picture engraved on her heart and always on her mind.
Happy Tuesday!
Diana
Hi;
Diana, I could not have said it any better. I pray the Lord will transform us into women like Abigail. What a wonderful example the Lord has given us to follow.
I am also very thankful for the women the Lord has brought into my life over the years who were like Abigail. What a blessing!!!
Glory be to God!!!
im 53, so there have been many abigails in my life. about all that i can say is, i thank god for them all.
I feel like I'm on hold right now. I'm in a dead-end full-time job (working nights). I teach at a community college part-time during the day. Although I often get discouraged, I know God has a plan for me. I am active in our family's church and I have a fellow Christian at work to talk to. In addition, I have just joined P4. I often listen to Back to the Bible on my way home from work in the mornings. I also find inspiration from some other pastors I hear on the radio (The Bridge, 99.7 FM from Montecello, NY). All in all, I realize that God is providing me with sustenance and encouragement for my future work, whatever that may be. Please pray that I will soon hear His calling and discern His plan for the rest of my life.
Kent,
Thanks for joining Powered by 4, for sharing what's going on in your life and for the prayer request. We have a staff prayer time every morning here at Back to the Bible and we will certainly be praying for you. Tami W.
Thank you so much for P4 going through the book of 1' Samuel and the comets i have read from the blogs is heping me to grow in the word or God there is nothing mere powerful please continue to pray for me and my family I am going through a test of faith at this time both my husban and i have lost our jobs and sometimes I question my faith,
Hi Tami,
Diana was really on target with her comments. I thank the good Lord for the direction and guidance He has given me, working through other people. I regret that for most of my life, I acted like David and Nabal. Thank God for the many chances He has given us. I have acted like Abigail, by trying to give wisdom to others, but sometimes the advice has fallen on deaf ears. All we can do is try to help, but sometimes people have to hit rock bottom, before they can come back up. Oops I almost forgot, one of the Abigails in my life was a co-worker and I was an Abigail to a cousin.
In His service,
D.L.J.
