I'm in vacation mode today so I'm not going to talk about our reading. Instead, I was hoping I could get to know you, our P4 members, a little better. I think I've already told you that my husband and I have 3 dachshunds. We also have 2 parrots and fish. And as you've seen on the video blogs, I love to garden and grow orchids. If you watch the Back to the Bible program, you also probably know that I love to sing and my favorite beverage is Diet Pepsi. Yes, I'm eclectic. :-)
Ok. Now it's your turn. Tami W.
P.S. Old habits die hard. Remember to do your reading in Hebrews! It's important.
Hey Tami! Wow you really do have a lot of different interests, orchids huh?? My boss has some and I'm not allowed near them :-) I don't have much of a green thumb. In my spare time I like to read, take walks when the weather's nice and just hang out with my family. Nothing too exciting, but I guess it's what I get excited about. I have two little boys (darling I might add) that keep me pretty busy and I have a full-time job as well, so when I actually have some free time it's a pretty big deal. Thanks for sharing your life with us!
It is so wonderful to have sech a loving Savior and be able to enjoy the wonders of the world He has provided us. We are allowed to have pets to love and they love us. Gardens we can enjoy growing things in. It just seems that God made everything perfect if we only would take the time to enjoy it. Whenever I spend time alone with nature, I just realize how perfect God made earth. I must praise Him and keep saying over and over how wonderful it is to have Christ as my personal Savior.
This is my first day reading in your program. Today's reading makes no sense to me at all. And I think if you want to be on vacation, no problem, everyone needs time off. But you should ask someone else to do your work, not tell us about your pets.
May God Bless each and everyone today.
I'm a Mom of 3 Kids and have a wonderful husband. He always makes me being so proud of Him, and I'm also a full time employee, as I work on a farm, I have 3 days per month of, and they are in different times. For example, (Day #1, is September 5th, Day #2, is September 14, and Day #3, is September 29). Then it usually is very hard to get a good rest. Sometimes I wish to have the 3 Days in a row of, so I can do something else. Ok, no more complaining. I do love my job very much, and I also have a very good Boss.
As for what I'm doing on my free time, I love music. I do have my own Tyrus 2 Yamaha Keaboard, and Yep, you guessed it, that is where I spend my free time on.
In total I have made 3 CD's, and working on my 4th one right now.
Yea I'm not a professional, I'm just playing by ear, and I do all the recordings here at home. But it's ok to me, it is for the fun of it.
I also go to different places, elderly people love it the most.
I'm always so bless, when I go and sing to those elderly people, as I bring the music there, I can see they just feel like dancing, it is something very special for them. I have done it now for about 3 Years, one to 2 times per month, That to me is a very big blessing, when I see that they are so Happy to here music, that just makes me want to do it more.
Many people they do not understand me, how I get the time to do this, but I always tell them, If Jesus wants you to do something, You do find the time to do it.
Praise the Lord for TIME.
Have a good one.
Hi Tami! Thanks for sharing with us about your life. I enjoy reading, listening to music, meeting new people and hanging with my friends.
My wife and I have two children and one that was killed when he was only three. I love to garden and have started to get into blackberries and raspberries. We have lived in the same house for 11 years, which is longer than any house we have ever lived in. We have two Golden Retrievers (Maggie and Halo - no, not from angels but from a Video Game.) We also have a rat (Speedo.) My wife works the hardest by running a daycare out of our home. I work as a store manager for a fabrics and crafts store. Our oldest son is attending college in southwest Missouri, while our youngest is in 5th Grade.
Hi Tami. Thanks for sharing some about yourself. I've listened to you on Back to the Bible and love the questions you ask Dr. Kroll because you are my voice too. I have 4 dogs, 3 still puppies and also love gardens and apples. I've just started the Powered by 4 plan and hope it will be the aid I need to stay hungry and thirsty for God's word. Blessings
Hi fellow PB4 readers,
Summer & Tami, I have something in common with you both. I have 2 children and 1 Dachshund! I am a home schooling mom. So, I don't have a lot of spare time either but I do love to read, take walks or hikes with my family and bake. I often feel close to God when I am near his creation. In our part of the country the mountains bring us a lot of natural delight! I appreciate PB4 and BTTB so much! I used to listen to the radio broadcast only when I could catch it but now that I discovered it's online, I can read and listen before my kids are ready for school! I really struggled to get in the Word regularly before PB4! I have learned so much from Dr. Kroll and I love Tami's blogs and special insights. THANKS BTTB!
Hi Tami; Thanks for sharing about you! I have 5 children and 2 at home, the rest are on their own my youngest is 7 years old my oldest is 30! ... I have 2 Siamese cats and a german shepherd puppy 5 months old. I do the books for my husband's company so I am kept pretty busy. Some of my passions are knitting, reading, learning, walking my puppy. I have just started the Powered by 4 plan and I hope that it will help keep my passion for Gods Word. I find when you are studying alone sometimes it is hard to continue even though I love God and I love His Word I think when you are reading with others it can spur you on, you gain greater insights from what God is teaching everyone and it is a huge encouragement. It is comforting for me to know there are other christians out there who struggle too but I want to stay obedient and I want to walk close to the Spirit and hear His voice, not just to have knowledge about His word but to truly experience the Living Word. Thanks for being there and helping along this pilgrimage we are all on!
I can't believe you guys ran a re-run video ;)!!! LOL...
Well, I've been out of touch because of being sick and traveling, but now I am feeling much better. About me? Hmmm, well, I have two cats and two dogs. My old cat Boswell, I found in a coma this week and so that freaked me out a little bit. I thought he was dead, but thankfully he is okay. Then I have Gideon my little orange cat. And Luke and Liberty my two German shepherd mixes :)
I've been married now for 16 years to my husband Randall and we do not have children yet. We want them, but so far we haven't had them.
I LOVE politics, talk radio, blogging, writing and especially engaging the culture from a biblical perspective. I love to help people and in my work as a marriage and family therapist I am always challenged and yet invigorated when I see growth in hurting people. Loving people and challenging ideas all from a biblical worldview is really who I am in a nutshell. I also play guitar and write songs, and really enjoy making people laugh. :)
Mary, Your first day! Welcome. I'm so glad you're now a part of Powered by 4. Sorry my blog didn't dive into Thursday's reading. I don't always explain the readings in my blogs, but I generally address the subject matter of the passage. I'm always happy to take questions though. And if I don't know the answer, there are lots of people here at Back to the Bible who can help. Or, maybe some of the other P4 bloggers will want to weigh in.
As for Thursday's reading, which I think you were referring to, it is one of the more difficult passages. The Sabbath rest can be a challenging concept to grasp. So...I want to tell everyone about some free resources that might help in getting a better handle on Hebrews.
The Back to the Bible program is going through Hebrews right now, so you might consider watching or listening to the Wednesday and Thursday programs which covered this more difficult section of scripture.
Our Meet with God study guide for September also covers Hebrews, and you can download it for free right here.
Feel free to comment or ask questions any time. We want this to be a safe community where we can talk about God's Word. Tami W.
Thanks for the resources. Thursday's radio transcript was very helpful in explaining the passage!
Thank you for sharing your personal life with us. I love getting to know you better. I enjoy Back to the Bible on radio! I love this extension of BTTB. I am a mother of 4 grown children, and grandmother to 4 grandsons. I live in a condo, so my gardening is mostly inside. I have 2 granddogs, a Lab and a mini dachshund! She is the queen in that home. I enjoy all the comments and just knowing Christ is alive in so many.
Am very (I'll add an extra very;that's what GOD did when HE REALLY means something--however, it was usually verily, verily or truly, truly) happy to be starting to read the book of Hebrews. Am starting on Hebrews: Walking with the Superior Savior in your "Meet with GOD" booklet.
Am already stumped on "Consider It" of Week 1 the 2nd question. Would like your interpretation of: "How is GOD the Father distinguished from GOD the Son?" in verses 1-14 in chapter 1 of Hebrews.
My understanding has been that GOD is the Planner and Jesus is the Carrier out of those plans.
Please respond.
Hi Tami,
I just signed up on PB4. I've been listening to Dr Kroll and you on BttB for a long time. I've learned so much, may God bless you, Dr Kroll and rest of the staff. I'm sure I'm not alone when I tell you that I have a constant struggle with my bible reading. I know that I should be reading it on a daily basis but is not easy.
By signing up to PB4 I make a promise to myself that with God's help and your support I'll stay on track. I've been a regular supporter of Back to the bible for some time, I encourage all the readers here to support this ministry.
I can't imagine the impact that this ministry is having on the world. May God bless you all.

Hi!!!
It is great getting to know all of you. As for me, I am a full time housewife, with four dogs. My husband and I have been married for 9 wonderful years. I have two beautiful grandchildren, Kylie, my Angel Girl is 4 years old and Chase, my Boo Boo Boy is 7 1/2 months. Do to our recent move I don't get to see them as often as I would like. Hopefully the Lord will put us closer together in the very near future.
I love being in God's beautiful creation. It always amazing me, with beauty, laughter and peace. To enjoy His creation, I garden, go to Yosemite, and just enjoy being in my home surroundings. Which includes bird and critter watching; such as squirrels, quail, fox, our four dogs, and whatever else might wander through.
Thank you all for sharing, may God bless each of you with His grace and unabounding peace.
Hello
I enjoy your program a lot. I am a grandmother of 4 who all live within walking distance of our home. I am a quilter and a wannabe gardener. We also have a dog. I love to read. My reading pattern tends to be thematic. What started as a pilgrimage after reading "The Way was Made by Walking" by Arthur Paul Boers, was delightfully enhanced by the reading of Exodus last month. I was overwhelmed, since it was not a new read for me, I was struck by the amazing parallels between Moses and Jesus right from birth. One put into a basket and one in a manger the comparisons just didn't end there either.
My exposure to Back to the Bible goes way back to my childhood when my parents listened to the program. My father, a poor prairie pastor, received one of Theodore Epp's black suits. My father wore it for many funerals and weddings. My mother faithful pressed it with a vinegar soaked pressing cloth to make sure it had all the creases in the right place.
Thank you for your faithfulness in sharing God's wonderful words with us
Alvina
Janet, thanks for submitting your question! We have a Biblical Communications department here at Back to the Bible that loves to answer Bible questions. You can read their response to your question below. And to anyone else out there with Bible questions, feel free to send them to us and we'll get back to you! Tami W.
Hebrews is a challenging book but I think you have the basic idea right. The Father is the planner and director (something like a CEO); Jesus (according to these verses) is the Creator (v. 2) and Savior (v. 3). Be careful, however, not to push this distinction too far because elsewhere God the Father is also called Creator (Rev. 4:11) and Savior (1 Tim.1:1, 2:3).
Hi Tami,
My family calls me Tammy too; I'm glad that your picture is posted, I've oftened wondered how you look. You sound so sweet on the radio. I've listened to the show for about four years now; my daughter and I listen to it in the morning as we get ready for school and work. I have a daughter who just turned 18 on the sixth and I have a nephew and a niece who are 9 and 5 months respectively. They keep me very busy; I also teach Sunday school to 13 6th, 7th and 8th graders. I so appreciate Back to the Bible because Dr. Kroll has a way of really making all that he teaches simple and clear. I thank God for the work that you do and I pray that you will be blessed for keeping the faith.
God Bless,
Tamarah
Hi Tami! I am a mother of 4 kids who are really cool! My daughter is turning 16 in a couple of weeks, my 13 year old son is trying to break some school records in track this year, my 10 year old son loves to play baseball and my 8 year old daughter is all spit fire! My hubby is an awesome guy and we share the duties of the household and kids as we both work full time. I love Powered by 4! You will find me at my kitchen table most ever morning between 5 and 6 with my laptop, Bible and coffee. I have been loving Hebrews! Thanks and have a great day!
All these exchanges and comments are awesome! Blog posting can be such a gift. I got a real kick out of the fact that you were in "vacation mode!" What a wonderful example for us all that everyone needs a little time off to refresh and renew. And how great that you are sharing from your own life and giving this site a "personal" touch. Thank you.
I'm in Missouri. Back to the Bible has been on our radio for a long time! I'm excited to have the online connection too.
I wanted to say to Mike that I was sorry to read that your son died at age three. How very sad for you both. How did the Lord help you at that time? My husband of 30 years died of cancer 6 days after he turned 51. I am so thankful for Jesus sustaining love and care, and am always interested in how He has cared for others in and thru their hard times too. Hebrews has some special verses in it that have helped me!
We were blessed with two daughters who in turn furthered the blessings by delighting us with grandchildren. Both our daughters were expecting babies when my husband went on to be with the Lord in heaven. Those babies (now two) have been a deep joy for me and for my daughters and son-in-laws.
And to Stacy, how's Boswell, your cat, now? Pets are a gift from the Lord, I think. I had to have my dear cat, Frisky, put down about this time last year, and I sure missed his company afterwards. Youngest grandson has cat allergy, so I'm not getting a new pet for a while. Love having a sneeze-free grandson spend the night with me!
Alvina, it was interesting to read about your father and his use of one of Theodore Epp's suits! I have subscribed to Theodore Epp's devotions via B2TB. They are wonderful.
Tami, thanks again for this great blog site! Keep up the worthy work!
Hi Tami,
You're so sweet. I Love that you love animals, and I find that all your interest are cute. Apples, diet pepsi, gardening etc...I too am a HUGE animal girl. I have 3 dogs, a Border collie, a Chihuahua & dachshund they are so sweet. I also have 6 cats. Lol, but more importantly, my daughter just had her 1st baby on Sunday 9-7-08. A beautiful baby girl.
Chloe Isabella. My 1st grandchild. So we are all very excited and blessed to have her. This has been a whirlwind of a year for me, both my children grew up and moved away in a 2 month period. My daughter has moved away about an 1 1/2 and my son just went off to college in San luis obispo. He just turned 19. Im sooo happy for him, he too loves his new found life and adventure. I'm just missing them so much and dealing with the empty nest syndrome. But God probably knew how sad I would be, so he has brought me a new grandbaby to help take care of. Thank the Lord for my wonderful husband Edward. Whom I love dearly he is so good to me, and gives me lots of love. Well, maybe I'll write more later. Thanks for listening and God Bless everyone
Hi Tami,
This is the first time that I have responded to anyone's blog. It's kinda weird. I'm a mother of 4 great kids with a wonderful husband and a wacky dog. God has blessed my life incredibly. I didn't grow up a Christian...I grew up knowing about him but not knowing him. God reached down and pulled me out of all the muck I was in and washed me clean. Praise the Lord! My life is far from perfect but I'm looking forward to that day when it will be. I am a first generation Christian and I struggle sometimes. So here I am at 5:00 in the morning looking for God on the internet. It's so good that He is everywhere.
Hey Tracy,
Blessings to you and your family regarding your new grandbaby! Enjoy! God is good.
I have not written for a while. I am a Grand mother of 3 of my own, and 8 step-grand children, 5 great-grand children; and GOD keeps blessing us. These are ages 28 yrs all the way down to 3 months.
My daughter-Bonnie, husband and 2 boys and 1 girl all lives with us. So since their are 7 living in a 3 bedroom trailer it is always interesting.
My 33 yr old son David; died 18 months ago and God has showed me love beyond what I could have ever expected from HIM. I love quilting. Spending time with my husband at Senior Citizens, getting back into reading my Bible more regularly. Not 4 days yet; but better.
I really enjoy the blogs also. Thanks Tami for all your hard work.
Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing a little part of your story with all of us. I am loving reading and learning about each and every one of you. It's so cool seeing how we're all wired differently and in different stages of our lives but yet united in Christ. Thanks, too, for committing to read with P4.
One more thing. I have some exciting news to share. As of last weekend, we are now have over 5,000 people participating in Powered by 4. Isn't that awesome??? 5,000 of us reading and learning God's Word together. I love it! So would you pray with me that it keeps growing? And then, encourage someone else to join us? Tami W.
