Since I've been reading almost exclusively in the Old Testament for the last couple of months, reading in Hebrews yesterday and today was a great reminder for me that as Christians today, we are so fortunate, privileged, advantaged, you name it. Immediately in Hebrews chapter 1 we are told that "in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son." There have been plenty of times when I thought something like, I sure wish I could have a sign like those people in the Old Testament. God was right there showing them..." Ok, I think you get the picture (maybe you've even had some of those thoughts). But really, that kind of thinking is silly because we have it so much better. We no longer live under the Law. We don't have to look to prophets or offer sacrifices to cover our sins. We live under grace and it's all because of Jesus and what He did for us--taking on human form, living with us (sinlessly) and ultimately dying a horrible death on the cross in our place. I love how chapter 2 lays all this out for us. If you've ever wondered why Jesus came to earth and did what he did, make sure you read Hebrews chapter 2 a few times.

So I hope you're getting into Hebrews this week. It's a great book. But as you're reading, you may have questions, encounter some things you're not sure about or don't understand. If that's the case, let us know. Send us your questions. We'll answer you and post it right here on the blog. Tami W.

Your point about God the Father speaking to us through his Son is well put. Thanks be to God that we live under grace!

I love how Chapter 2 gets us so focused on Jesus and how incredible He is, how complete His sacrifice and how much He loves us. It gets us ready for Chapter 3, our reading for today and the call to "fix our thoughts on Jesus!"

Today's question is "How are we supposed to live?" For me that means choosing to listen to Him and when I hear Him, to believe and obey! Not to ignore or turn away. That will just harden us and allow us to fall prey to sin's deceitfulness.

What an incredible privilege to hear His voice...to hold His Word in our hands and allow it to sink deep into our hearts and minds. Cool. Let's encourage one another to believe and hold firm! Press on fellow servants!

How wonderful to be under God's grace. Jesus delivered, and continues to do so, us from the OT laws and so much more. However, we need to be careful not to use "His grace" to justify our sin or continue in sin. We must examine ourselves and have someone to hold us accountable, so when we do sin and repent we receive His grace in all its beauty and power.

I love Hebrews as the Lord shows us the difference from being under the law to being free from the law. We can clearly see and understand exactly what Christ has done for us and all the world.

My dear brothers and sisters hold fast to His word, put on your armor and praise on!!!

Such a wonderful Christ that saved a sinner like me. I just praise Christ every day. I really enjoy Hebrews. It is so great to be under Grace and not the Law. Praise God

Hi
I just started the reading in Hebrews and so far it has been a blessing to me. It really has opened my eyes to the great thing that Jesus has done for us. When I consider what he gave up so that we could have eternal life it really humbles me. In additon knowing that I am saved by grace and not the law makes what Jesus did even more meaningful for me. Praise God.
